Breaking News on the Nifong case being read right now on FoxNews TV. I'm hearing convictions out numbering for each indictment outnumber no convictions at least 3 to one. The guy is going down and going down HARD.

And what about that nappy headed ho that accused them? How come she is nowhere to be seen? Shouldn’t she share the glory that, for now, seems to be all Nifong’s?

I went there to watch it and can’t get it! Are you seeing it live there?

I don’t care what they are offered. Their costs alone were near a million. $2 million is a drop in the bucket when you consider what Nifong has done. Taxpayers in NC should be outraged that such an occurrence has cost them. This goes all the way to the Governor, who appointed the idiot.

LOL! No, I wouldn’t take anyything that Cash Michaels says very seriously. He is just like the people in Durham. Quick to accuse, slow to apologize if ever.

Taxpayer money will be a touchy subject.

it’s off right now, but will come on again when the panel is finished......you can just let the video player load and go thru its buffering and just let it sit......the audio will alert you when it resumes...

OH - okay - thanks. Yes, and WRALTV is going to go back to the hearing when the sentencing is pronounced.

Considering his resignation, I’m assuming they’ll have to hold another election to fill his unexpired term. Hope there’s a good Republican available to run!

I believe there is no special election, the Governor will simply appoint someone to finish out his term (which is how Liefong originally got the DA position.) So that means another RAT.

I dont think a Republican can get elected in Durham anyway.

Can those professors be on the hook for that letter?

I ask because working at a university I have seen the worst behavior of humans excused with, "well, intellectual freedom dictates that we must accept"....blah, blah, blah.

I'd love to see them fire these folks. It would be great to see them get the full public spotlight on who they are and what they have done.

It was amazing to me how much came out about Ward Churchill when the media started to dig.

Normally I'm not a big fan of 'making example' punishments, but in this case it must be done. Every prosecutor from coast to coast simply has to be shown that if they try to railroad an innocent defendant and they get caught the penalties will be sure, swift, and sever.

As bad as one can do to Nifong, it is not "making an example." He did it and ruined the lives of a lot of people in the process. The punishment for intentinionally, deliberately and with malace of forethought ruining a life should be that your own life is a living hell until God's mercy ends it.

It’s not a capital offense, so hanging is out.
Now removal from the Bar; yes.
Civilly liable for violation of the DUKE players civil rights; yes.
Fined into a point that he is so poor he can’t pay attention; yes.
Even spend a good long term in the Gray Bar Motel; yes. Hanging? Nope.

intellectual freedom dictates ...

Since when does academic freedom trump conspiracy to violate civil rights.

The North Carolina State Bar charged Nifong, a prosecutor in Durham County for his entire three-decade legal career, with breaking several rules of professional conduct, including lying to both the court and bar investigators and withholding critical DNA test results from the players' defense attorneys.

My question is over Nifong's three-decade Durham County Prosecutorial legal career; "How many other cases did he cook???"

Nifong instructs his attorney to say that disbarment is an appropriate punishment, and he waives any appeals.

gonna game this to the very end......”I apologized and surrendered my ticket”

Hopefully this won’t cut it for precluding criminal cases, State and Federal, not to mention Civil.

"Since when does academic freedom trump conspiracy to violate civil rights."

On a campus?

Here is the formula to answer your question:

1. Is the faculty member tenured? If yes, then the student must be mistaken or wrong.

2. Is the faculty member also a member of a "traditionally underrepresented ethic group"? (don't say minority, that might hurt people's feelings) If yes, then the student is mistaken, wrong, or maybe racist. If the student is white and male, then the student is racist.

3. Is the faculty member a white male (actually "white male oppressor" is the preferred term)without tenure? If so, then the student is right and we have to get rid of the faculty member as he is probably a bigot and must be fired.

You will note that no where in this formula do I mention civil right or the law or the question of what is right versus what is wrong. The truth is, from what I have seen in academia, those things don't seem to matter.

I bet she don’t even know his name, who he is and what she did. She should be prosecuted as soon as possible—and it’s late now.

The hearing will recess for about 15 minutes (’til 4:45), before announcing their acceptance or rejection of Nifong’s offer.

You can bet there is more than one criminal defense attorney in NC asking that very question. The NC courts are going to be cleaning this mess up for years.
