President Bush yesterday told Hispanics to step into the middle of the immigration debate and make sure senators who have been bombarded with calls from opponents also hear from those who support the bill.
"There's a lot of emotion on this issue, and it makes sense to have people from around the country come and sit down with members of Congress to talk rationally about the issue," he told those attending the Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Washington yesterday.
He was speaking a day after the bill, which collapsed last week, was revived by the top Democrat and Republican in the Senate.
Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, agreed to put the bill back on the Senate's schedule next week, and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, agreed to limit the number of amendments Republicans would offer.
But roadblocks are already popping up.
Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, said he will block any attempt to send the bill to an eventual House-Senate conference, complicating the usual path a bill takes to reach the president's desk.
"Ted Kennedy has sold us another bill of goods and I don't trust him to make even more changes...

What arrogance! He knows full well that the American people don't want this bill, so he's doing his best to show us that he couldn't care less about what we think. And the gall to imply that we are all acting out of emotion and not using rational thought to come to our opinions. If anyone is irrational, it's him and his fellow traitors. They were hired to represent us.

GW’s want illegals to act, they can’t vote, they can’t reveal themselves to be illegals, they can’t let folks know they are harboring illegals...........Whats left that they “legally” can do ?
We used to call that inciting a riot.
What on earth is this President doing ?!?!?

“Most hispanics I know, including this one are opposed to amnesty.”
I agree with you.
Adding on, many of our American citizens who came to America legally, have spoken up staing NO AMNESTY for illegals. Some people just don’t want to hear that.

I’m speechless too! He is just inviting more trouble! Unreal, but that seems to be the status quo now.

By population count, European-Americans are the minority in California. AS a minority I want to be heard. Build the border fence now. YOu are in PA. and dont have a clue. YOU don't have a clue as to who you're talking to.
I lived in South Florida with the hispanic population for many years.
They were people who loved and appreciate freedom more than most native born Americans. And I loved them for this.

” And considering hispanics are the largest minority in America I think they should be heard as well. “
What makes you think they haven’t been heard. Didn’t they have their group “The Race” actually write the bill w/Kennedy and Kyle?
Either you’re a race hustler, Jorge, or I fail to see your point.

They were heard. Last May 1st they were heard by the thousands marching in the streets, carrying Mexican flags and signs in spanish, demanding OUR rights. That’s why people are so irate now.

This is a slap in the face to every American citizen.
That would be the third slap in the face, at minimum. The first was telling us that we don't know what's good for America. The second was telling the Senators to ignore their irate constituents. Calling the minutement vigilantes was probably yet another - the first.
