Washington, D.C. The U.S. House of Representatives this morning voted to withhold federal emergency services funding for "sanctuary cities" that protect illegal immigrants.
Anti-immmigration champion Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., sponsored the measure, which he says would apply to cities such as Denver and Boulder. He was elated by its passage, which stunned critics and supporters alike.

Doesn't matter, it shows that the House is going to be alot tougher on the Immigration issue then the Senate.
I am sure that there are at least a few GOP Senators who are going to think twice about walking the plank for a bill that is not going to get passed in the first place.
Does anyone know where those 60 Democrats are from? Are they feeling the conservative heat or heat from unions and organized labor?
If the message here is that the heat the senate is taking from all of us is being felt big time int he House rignt now as well..
THEN WE REALLY GOTTA KEEP THE PRESSURE ON, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE MONGOLOIDS IN THE SENATE DO.
The lying spin that the majority of Americans support amnesty just went down the tubes. And, we should all drink to that.
This Fred-head is applauding and congratulating Tancredo!
No sense on being a downer on this. It will never make it into law - the senate would have to approve it and the president would have to sign it. We both know that won't happen.
Why you should be excited is that this shows that there is some hope that the amnesty bill will not be able to make it through the house.
Ya know, I’m not advocating this because I don’t know if it’s politically permissible to suggest, but if someone anonymously created some official looking bulletins that indicated that raids were imminent and posted them where certain elements could read them, at least those among them that can read, that someone could create a great deal of angst within the criminalien underground.
It’s just civil disobedience. Nobody would get hurt. It’s time to step up the resistance.
Ohhhh, thanks for the ping, truthkeeper!
bttt
*snort*
Here's hoping.
Good news. But remember, a similar amendment failed in the Senate. The Tancredo amendment could be killed in a Joint Senate/House Conference behind closed doors.
One more good example of why we need to repeal the 17th Amendment.
The senate may be more deliberative but it’s really not supposed to stand up in the face of 85% of the citizenry.
Oh heck, Montag, it’s been on the PEOPLE’S radar screen a lot longer than that.
So the media is stunned that Americans don't like giving money to scoff-laws.A case of believing one's own propaganda.
I hear this all the time, but without the 17th, the senators would have even more layers between themselves and the people.
Politicians electing other politicians is just not a good idea in the corrupt political world we live in today.
