Washington, D.C. The U.S. House of Representatives this morning voted to withhold federal emergency services funding for "sanctuary cities" that protect illegal immigrants.
Anti-immmigration champion Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., sponsored the measure, which he says would apply to cities such as Denver and Boulder. He was elated by its passage, which stunned critics and supporters alike.

Jorge, are you listening??
“I think the main blessing from this is that it shows deep fissures between the House and the Senate on the illegal immigration issue.
That’s a good thing, considering how things are going in the Senate right now.”
A damn good thing brother. Godspeed!
Good for Tom Tancredo! I’m proud of him.
I think the fact that every one of the members of the house have to face the voters in 2008 has a lot to do with it. Many of the GOP senators that are being traitorous still have 5 or 3 more years before they are up again. Their theory is that by that time the voters would have forgotten.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall when the MOTU get a whiff of this one. I'm so happy about this, I know it's just one small step but it has really lifted my spirits.
We CAN do this!
Ew. I'll be sure to stay in the Springs.
Does anyone know where you can get a roll call of the yeas and nays for this vote?
I would love to see Tancredo go down in history as a great hero for this.
Excellent work, Mr. Tancredo. Excellent.
from out of nowhere... this former greenskeeper.... the cinderella kid... about to become.... Masters champion....
and....
and....
IT’S IN THE HOLE !!! IT’S IN THE HOLE!!!!
CALL! CALL! CALL! CALL! AND KEEP CALLING TILL THE LINES FRY!
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!
Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.
That great House is now our only hope. The King and the House of Lords are totally out of touch.
How about some NACHOS, Johnny?

Who are the nay votes, in either party? All the nays should be run out of office, come 2008.
Seattle just got kicked in the balls HARD... No money for big quakes, no money for volcanic eruption, Tsunamis... that’s gotta hurt...
You got that right. I'd say it's a Trick for the Times. Of course, it'll die in the Senate; either that, or the Senate will mark it up to the point where they attach the whole shamnesty bill to it as an amendment.
Still, this is very cool. What would really make me smile is to see this little victory get a whole lot of media coverage. I'm watching you Fox News...
” It’s a really good indicator of just how much closer to the people the House is than the Senate is. “
This statement has always been true, and that’s exactly the way it was intended by the framers.
The House was to be responsive to the passions of the people and the Senate was to be more deliberative. It looks like our best chance is in the House.
If the bill passes the Senate we can switch pressure to the House, which has always been more responsive. All is not lost!!
“but fear it will backfire if a tragedy in these places occurs and services are withheld.”
The tragedy has already happened...numerous times in numerous cities...
drunken driving, assaults, rapes, drug dealing, criminal acts committed over and over by illegal aliens being protected and coddled by namby-pamby left wing politicians.
these cities are willfully breaking the law by refusing to cooperate with federal immigration laws. Payback’s a bitch.
I remember when Mike Savage had him on three or four years ago, and the two of them were seething over immigration. It was on NOBODY'S radar screen then. Boy, is it ever now.
I’ve been saying lately that Mexico has two presidents. The President of Mexico, and Mexico’s President. If you get my meaning.
