A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Isn’t it just amazing for that kind of sound to come out of a humble cell phone salesman? I am not real big on opera, but THAT just blew me away!

Seems most people saw it on Brit Hume’s show last night. You and I must have been among the very few who missed it.
I keep going back and watching it again, just to see the amazed look on the faces of the panel and the audience....and, of course, to hear that voice again.

I remember the place you ordered from was Hortico, something like that? If it didnt leaf out, they may give you a credit or even send a new one. That's right, it was Hortico. Yes, I should probably request my money back, especially since I feel that the EIGHT days it travel in a box in transit from Canada was partially responsible for it not making it. But, at the same time, I feel responsible too. I knew that planting a bare root rose that time of year was foolish here where it gets so hot so early in the spring. I guess I will just chalk it up to yet another learning experience.

The tool..(mine is electric called a Weed Eater)has a spool of plastic line that whirls and cuts down my ground cover and weeds..One may turn it on it’s side and edge beds, too.
It’s my greatest tool by far...I don’t have to mow the lawn as the HOA takes care of that.

I would have preferred a warmer, softer yellow. But, it's just the utility room, so it really doesn't matter. It does look fresh and clean and cheerful, and I love that freshly painted look.
How are you coming with your dining room? After 4 days and almost 4 gallons paint, the dining room now wears a fresh new khaki color. :) (I think everyone knows there is no way "one coat" coverage will really cover a lighter color over a darker color.) I loved the red walls, but new carpet is a pattern with lots of cranberry, camel, moss green in it, and the red walls would be too much red.
Are you changing linens and accessories in your guest room so that you feel free to paint the walls whatever suits your fancy? There are so many pretty colors, from dark to light, and warm to cool, to choose from. I mostly prefer warm colors over cool ones for our house, but will share a painting nightmare with you. LOL!
Egads! When we were first married and renting a small house, it was all just off-white walls in every room. There was only one bathroom, and I asked the landlord if I could paint it a soft, cheery yellow. Well, guess who had NEVER looked at paint chips or painted a wall before in her life! I found a really pretty yellow paint chip, but had no idea it would look different on 4 walls than that little bitty sample. I almost cried when the bathroom was finished. It was AWFUL! The walls were so bright and loud they practically screamed every time we turned the light on. :(
I do like pale yellow walls, though, and we did all the walls in the guest house with just a hint of pale, pale yellow.

What an incredible talent!WOW!!! Absolutely amazing.
I'm one of the three individuals in this world who has never watched Idol but if talent like this is what is offered, I might just tune in.
Thanks for the link, MB.

I'm downloading that now. Can already tell it's going to give me chills. I like almost all kinds of music though, and I'm crazy about last year's American Idol winner and his whiskey tenor voice.
Gotta go now!
