This is an ivory tower university view of illegal immigration. Is anyone here amazed?! Now we're both "idealists" and "nativists"! Wow!!

Regardless if illegals are good or bad. This congress has a NO CONFIDENCE vote from me.

Bush Jr lost his chance for the high road when he did nothing for our border guards that were sent to prison because they did their job. He is the continuance of this problem and it equates to an embezzler being in charge of payroll because he has another idea. His and the Congress ideas have gotten this country in this mess and they have lost the right to fix their problem. THE ONLY THING I AGREE TO IS “FIX” THE FENCE and stop illegal immigration. We will not talk about legalization until this is COMPLETE. period, end of sentence.

Anyone who applies logic and makes the move to open their eyes will see what is happening. Trust that god will bring everything to light that is hidden, He’s doing his part and those around us are not. These mental giants are going to one day realize how minimized they have become.

People better unite on one platform, a constitutional one before the final bell rings.

I have a vote of NO CONFIDENCE for our current congress and vote that no immigration be discussed until the border is secure. Illegals stay illegal.... NO CONFIDENCE

This is not over yet. Bush refuses to give up this easily. It's his stubborn character. As I predicted he would try to resurrect it and call it something else. We have to keep our guard up. We need to keep the pressure up. We have no choice but to fight. The oligarchy wants cheap labor and a destruction of the middle class and the millionaire democrats want votes they can count on. A marriage made in HELL.

STAGE TWO is to go after the people who hire illegals. Start giving them fines and arresting them. Just catch ten or 100 of them on the nightly news. The magnet will dry up and most of the 12 million will go home by themselves.

As an addendum, we should anonymously call the IRS, people working "off the books" means taxes ain't being paid. Make anonymous fliers and hang them around the neighborhood, name names. It's time to embarrass these bustards, whether they give to the GOP or Rats, we don't need them.

CALL! CALL! CALL! CALL! AND KEEP CALLING TILL THE LINES FRY!

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!

Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.

STOP AMNESTY NOW!! WE CAN DO IT!!

The best way to stop Shamnesty

We’re the realists. The reality is that we are being overrun economically, demagraphically and politically, and the the rule of law and the sovereignty of our territory and our people has been severely compromised.

“Their employers pay Social Security taxes for all of them,” though they don’t receive benefits, he points out.

Well, doh, they’ll get the SS benefits with the Z-Visa, at least in theory before the entire system’s bankrupted. Then Congress will probably keep it as a program for non-citizens.

I didn’t read the article, but just wait until our next economic slow down. Our welfare and unemployment systems will be totally over burdened with an additional 12-24 million receptients. Ouch!

Wharton's Anderson goes even further, arguing that, on balance, illegal immigrants contribute far more to the U.S. economy than they take. "Their employers pay Social Security taxes for all of them,"...

So, the whole premise is based on a lie.

I think it's garbage.

Mexico should not be determining our immigration policies. If we really need “guest workers”, which I doubt, then the border with Mexico should be sealed, and a point of debarkation should be set up offshore so that all south/central Americans have an equal shot at it and not just Mexicans, and there should be no wives or kids, just the workers, no “anchor babies”, and the companies or individuals using the guest labor should pay every penny of the costs including medical. Right now they’re all getting free rides.

Many people thought slavery was good for the economy. Apparently some still do.

Anderson says...
Instead, those jobs tend to be filled by native-born steelworkers and tradesmen who belong to the city's unions. "But if you go out into the suburbs, into the residential housing developments, much of that type of construction is done by illegal immigrants. Whose jobs did they take? They didn't take anybody's jobs because other workers simply weren't available to do that work."

Build it and they will come!

Wharton's Anderson goes even further, arguing that, on balance, illegal immigrants contribute far more to the U.S. economy than they take. "Their employers pay Social Security taxes for all of them," though they don't receive benefits, he points out.
I'm sure, on phony SS numbers? I would expect that most get paid under the table, in cash - no bother with taxes.

That should be enough to convince anyone of the papacy of thought Anderson offers on this subject.

Leprosy, plague, polio and drug-resistant TB have no cost?

How about one third of violent crimes and one quarter of traffic fatalities?

The death of the family breadwinner has no economic affect?

This analysis is worthless.

... The fact that wages have not been rising in real terms -- indeed, in most of the past generation they have been falling for all but the very top jobs -- makes it impossible to believe that we even have tight labor markets." Framing the debate in terms of labor shortages just distracts attention from the issue of wages, he argues. "If we expand the supply of workers through immigration, employers don't have to pay as much to find workers nor provide the other terms and conditions that make jobs attractive."

DING!! DING!! DING!!! A nugget of truth in this article.
