"By committing to these nutrition standards and marketing reforms, Kellogg has vaulted over the rest of the food industry," said Michael F. Jacobson, executive director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest. "This commitment means that parents will find it a little easier to steer their children toward healthy food choices - especially if other food manufacturers and broadcasters follow Kellogg's lead."

That is my objection -- it is not up to Jacobsen and his band of nanny-staters to parents how to raise their children, nor is it their place to determine what a company can manufacture or how it markets it. I do not need jacobsen to tell me how to feed my child a healthy diet.

Kellogg's is stupid for agreeing to this. Most kids go out of wanting the sugar coated cereal by the time they are HS age anyway.

The nanny stators should start their own company and try marketing the calf feed they think kids should eat for breakfast.

My daughter likes it for an after school snack of occassion, she actually prefers oatmeal.....she finishes 3rd grade tomorrow.

But I understand your point, and I'm in total agreement with you about Kellogg's being stupid for caving into them.

Looks like the’ve been playing RWJF’s tune for quite some time. Why is this group not investigated? RWJF is evil.

Can you say “BIG FOOD” MSA on the way soon? I knew you could.

Kelloggs just made the first mistake that has certainly doomed them to the same fate as the “evil” tobacco companies.

CSPI, Jesse Jackson, Tony Soprano - what's the difference?

Tony Soprano is a fictional shakedown artist?

This is next Gabz :>)

BE SURE YOU LOCK YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS AT HOME....

A man was found dead in his home over the weekend.

Detectives at the scene found the man face down in his bathtub.

The tub had been filled with milk, sugar and cornflakes .

A banana was sticking out of his butt.

Police suspect a cereal killer.

So basically, if Kellogg didn't accept the offer they couldn't refuse, the CEO would wake up with a bloody horse's head next to him in bed tomorrow. Or worse, a lawsuit that would cost millions to defend even if they won.

The food and alcohol jihadists learned their lessons well from anti-tobacco.

The public and the companies they target apparently learned nothing.

It will be never ending.  Smoking aides, removing stuff from foods, forcing seat belts, putting "healthy foods" in school vending machines, etc etc etc

It will never stop now.  The government thinks they know what is best for us and they think we can't think for ourselves.

Totally disgusting.  I feel that they are turning us into little babies!

Jacobson's nutrition advocacy group, along with two Massachusetts parents and the Boston-based Campaign For A Commercial-Free Childhood, had served notice in January 2006 of intent to sue Kellogg and the Nickelodeon cable TV network under a Massachusetts law to stop them from marketing junk food to kids.

And they will continue regardless of "calorie" content until Kellogg is sucked dry.

Yea - they should make their food even more unhealthy just to spite them.

While you may be correct, it is still a good thing to do what they are doing, doncha think?

See, this is what you get from people when you argue this any more, Gabby. Smugness and sarcasm, just like with the smoker issues. I just got in a virtual flame war with someone on a local board, and he thought that ‘although I can see your point, what do you think should be done? Do you advocate promoting unhealthy lifestyles? I don’t get your reasoning.” Turned out, he finally admitted he was a doctor. Firmly in the pocket of RWJF-who I told him OWN the CSPI. The entire country is starting to enjoy letting others do their thinking -and raise their children-for ‘em.
