I'm telling you right now, the food companies are in for a rude awakening if they think that by weakly giving into this shakedown it will get CSPI and the other Foodcops off their back.

When a kidnapper holds a hostage, you don't accede to their demands. This only guarantees an endless supply of kidnappers in the future.

That principle applies in many areas.

You've got that right. Michael F. Jacobson and the Center for Science in the Public Interest need to die a slow death from either malnutrition or from tainted food imported from China.

As long as the wheat gluten doesn't contain any trans fats then I suppose it'll pass CSPI muster. ;^)

The company said it won't promote foods in TV, radio, print or Web site ads that reach audiences at least half of whom are under age 12 unless a single serving of the product meets these standards:
-No more than 200 calories.
-No trans fat and no more than 2 grams of saturated fat.
-No more than 230 milligrams of sodium, except for Eggo frozen waffles.
-No more than 12 grams of sugar, not counting sugar from fruit, dairy and vegetables.

Suggested serving size: 1/4 cookie.

But they won. It’s a tangible victory for them. Another million gallons of KY dumped on the slippery slope.

..And will they be adding Vitamin supplements made in China? Or are they NOW?

Reading a box of Wheaties, I see that they contain many added vitamins, including C, most of which is made in China. What about all the others like Niacin?

Kellogg's going the route of Phillip Morris.

Nanny State Ping..........

Why, oh why do these companies give into the extortion of slimy groups like CSPI.........which BTW is NOT a nutrition advocacy group, it is a thinly veiled lobbying group intent on destroying the food and hospitality industries as we know them. They are heavily funded by RWJF and have close ties to PETA and MADD.........

________

Yea - they should make their food even more unhealthy just to spite them.

While you may be correct, it is still a good thing to do what they are doing, doncha think?

...unless a single serving of the product meets these standards:...

If they change the serving size, they can meet the new standards without having to change the product. That having been said, I despise food nazis!
