FDA tests found antifreeze chemical; agency unsure if items are counterfeit.
Five-ounce tubes of toothpaste labeled Colgate and sold in discount stores in four states are being recalled because they may contain a poisonous chemical, according to the importer. A Food and Drug Administration official, Doug Arbesfeld, confirmed that testing had found the chemical in a product with the Colgate label. But he said the agency is unsure if it is really Colgate or a counterfeit.

“It has made me go bald.”
Me, too. And it gave me wrinkles.
I see that my Crest toothpaste says “distributed by Proctor and Gamble, Cincinnati Oh” but doesn’t say where it was made so I’m assuming it was made somewhere outside the country.
i surely don't'
I have written on this many times in my columns - and I choose to live where I have my own sweet well water. If anywhere else, I get spring water - NOT just bottled water.
Did you know that most of the expensive bottled waters, like Pepsi's Aquafina and Coke's Dasani - "purified" water, is nothing but big city tap water? From cities like LA, Denver, Jacksonville.
If it doesn't list the source as spring water on the bottle , it's city tap water.
Want to read some more labels?
Just about all sodas and candies and anything we think of that used to have sugar in them now have, instead, high frutose corn syrup. Sounds safe? NOT. it's pure poison. Research it. Not only is it dangerous to your health, is puts on more pounds than sugar.
And then there's the problem with ANY carbonated drink..with reported studies linking them to loss of bone density - which can result in osteoporosis. (I learned the hard way. I was a "coke-a-holic" for years - and one day, I was 'attacked' with excruciating pain = two vertebrae had suddenly fractured: osteoporosis. I went cold turkey on the cola - )
We simply have to be our own physicians for the most part. And we are fortunate with the plethora of information now in print and on the net.
Off topic.
It’s amazing how things work out.
I bet you never thought that you would have this ping list responsibility when you decided to join and make a few posts, on FR.
Good on you.
And thank you.

-try googling “china toothpaste Panama” and read that. It will cure you of wanting to save any money.
I run and I use floridated toothpaste. That way when I go I’ll leave a good looking corpse with all my teeth.
It started out as watching pet food and it snowballed into finding the poisonous food chain from China. It has bee a real education for me!!! It makes me mad as heck too! I want everyoe to know about this.
I have an export for them:
There IS a poison control number on toothpaste. So the government is feeding any misplaced hysteria.
a couple of personal small examples - here in my state - children in a school were hospitalized when poisoned due to the mixture of fluoride being too high in the drinking water. And my grandson's teeth are permanently mottled from being given fluoride drops by the dentist.
Calcium fluoride, the natural occurring form of fluoride, is not poisonous.
the form put in toothpaste and water is sodium fluoride and fluorosalicic acid. They are industrial byproducts that are so notoriously toxic that they are used in rat poison and insecticides. They are toxic byproducts of the aluminum industry and fertilizer production.
gotta hand it too 'em, it's a lot cheaper the hoodwink the public into thinking it has the same benefits as the naturally occurring calcium fluoride = they don't have to pay millions of dollars to dispose of toxic waste.
The warning on the toothpaste tubes is pretty stark, considering the FDA is in bed with big industry. The FDA was forced into this -= a compromise, rather than just banning it, which it should.
I’ll bet 1COUNTER-MORTER-68 could find a few goodies for them as well!
Discount stores probably equals “dollar stores,” which are notorious for carrying the worst of the worst when it comes to cheap Chinese crap and brand-name knockoffs. Anyone who buys toothpaste from a dollar store is asking for it.
MOAB, Morter, Fatman...I’m not picky.
