[history]
FDA tests found antifreeze chemical; agency unsure if items are counterfeit.
Five-ounce tubes of toothpaste labeled Colgate and sold in discount stores in four states are being recalled because they may contain a poisonous chemical, according to the importer. A Food and Drug Administration official, Doug Arbesfeld, confirmed that testing had found the chemical in a product with the Colgate label. But he said the agency is unsure if it is really Colgate or a counterfeit.

Yikes! I use colgate! that's not the only poison in your toothpaste... any toothpaste with fluoride. Have you read the warning label on it?
And you put this stuff in your mouth? and in your kids mouths?,
Got the emergency number for the poison control center posted by your phone?

The product at dollar stores seems dodgey at best. A considerable amount is labelled for foreign markets where the laws are lax.
But when you’re saving money, you have to cut some corners.

Ah yes the wonders of “Free Trade!” As Thomas Caryle said about 150 years ago “Free trade means Cheap and Nasty.”

And our teeth thank them for it. The acute toxic dose of fluoride is 2 to 8 milligrams per kilogram of body weight, do the math.

I quit using
toothpaste years ago, when they started putting fluoride in all of it. I tried using the natural pastes, but they were just plain NASTY.
I'll just brush/swish with peroxide, rinse and be done, thank you. Once a week, I polish with soda/salt. Haven't had a cavity in many years.

Concentrated fluoride is nasty.
The diluted stuff in toothpaste and some municipal water is not.
This was a tin-foil hat issue about 10 years ago, people thinking they were being poisoned with fluoridated water.

Colgate is screwed - they try to save a few bucks by importing toothpaste from South Africa and this is what they get. So sad, too bad - their brand just went down the drain...

Grand Rapids was the first city in the U.S. to put fluoride in the drinking water. I’ve been drinking it over 50 years. It has made me go bald.

Everything I’ve heard and read says it’s from China. China is flooding the world with fake products and most are poisoned.

people thinking they were being poisoned with fluoridated water. I don't believe it was considered poison...I thought the concern was that Libruls were using it to soften our minds to be more receptive to Dan Rather & Tom Brokenjaw mind control (see the movie 'Dr. Strangelove')...

My dentist told me I just need to brush with water and then rinse with salt water. Of course, I have all implants!
