The favorable portrait of honest and hard-working illegal immigrants who simply want to feed their families was shattered when federal agents arrested dozens of undocumented workers using dead and elderly Americans Social Security numbers along with previously deported criminals at an Oregon food processing plant.
More than 165 undocumented workers were arrested in the raid at a major Portland fruit and vegetable processing plant for food giant Del Monte. At least 90 employees had fraudulent Social Security cards and many used the real Social Securities of juveniles, the elderly and the deceased. Others had fake green, or residency, cards and at least three are convicted felons who had been previously deported.
The previously deported criminal illegal immigrants had been convicted in U.S. courts with crimes ranging from possession of heroin to identity theft and possession of counterfeit alien registration documents.
Immigration authorities launched an investigation into the plant a few months ago when a check of employee records pointed that only 48 of the nearly 600 plant workers had valid Social Security numbers. Because the plant staff varies according to seasonal employment changes, only 165 illegal aliens were arrested in this weeks raid.
Portland Mayor Tom Potter was outraged by the immigration raid, saying that it is bad policy for federal officials to go after local workers who are in his city to support their families while filling the demands of local businesses. He immediately issued a written statement expressing his anger and referring to the illegal immigrants as Portland residents.
You must know that the US is seeking to establish Social Security Totalization with Mexico.
Please refer to the following:
http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/back904.html
from the article:
“Legal status = clean slate. Social Security permits foreign nationals to work many years illegally with one or more fraudulently obtained Social Security numbers, acquire legal status (e.g. through an amnesty or marriage to a U.S. citizen), obtain a valid SSN, and then request that his or her prior earnings credits be moved to the new number.
At that point SSA must do painstaking research to extract the earnings records accumulated using fictitious or fraudulently obtained Social Security numbers. Often those records reside in an Earnings Suspense File (ESF) that is used when wages cannot be posted to earners records because of name and number mismatches. As of July 2002 the ESF contained wage items totaling about $374 billion. Figure 1 depicts the enormous growth of the Earnings Suspense File in the last two decades, coincident with massive illegal immigration to the United States.
Other times the former illegal workers earnings credits reside on a SSN record assigned to another individual. This occurs when the illegal worker has committed identity theft by not just stealing a Social Security number but also appropriating the proper owners name as well.
The illegals slate is wiped clean and all the years worked under one or more fraudulent numbers and/or identities are counted toward the 10 years it takes to vest for full Social Security benefits based upon ones earning history.21
In so doing, the SSA ignores the fact that document fraud and identity theft are felonies that can result in prison sentences if committed by an American citizen.”

A bad deal for elderly illegals entitled to SS? They're not entitled to it if they're not citizens, IMO. Too bad for them. They know they're here breaking the law. Let them live with the consequences.
>>The article is talking about people paying taxes into the accounts, not stealing the payments.<<<
No, the article is talking about identity theft and fraud. You can put as much lipstick on that pig as you want, but it’s still going to squeal when you smack it in the rear.
The article is also talking about enabling people to stay here illegally and drain community and local resources. To steal from hospitals, use public facilities, and drive down the wages of those who would normally be living and working there.
Bottomline: if you or I did this, we’d be in jail.
(And what if they took those forged social security numbers and ran someone’s credit score through the mud?)
so tell us how much more would be paid in if businesses were unable to pay dirt cheap wages to illegals and had to pay market driven wages to American workers instead?
I'm talking income taxes, not medicare and FICA. Also, fine, let them use your number, you're liable for the extra income taxes, all you gotta do is make one little call to the IRS and it's all cleared up right? They don't keep sending you bills, adding fines and such? So EASY to take care of. On top of that, they use your good credit and SS # to get a credit card, I'm sure one little call will take care of that little problem as well. Surely wouldn't ruin your credit when they use that credit card, run it up, don't pay. All you gotta do is call the credit agencies and say "it wasn't me" and it will all be taken care of.
I find it ironic your home page shows "Darwin Central" as a link, quite amusing I think.
Really? I could swear it was talking about IDENTITY THEFT...A FELONY.
On top of that, if they have a SS #, they file for earned income credit, which pays them more than anything paid into social securty.
And there is advanced EIC where they could get it all out before they file. Also, say they file before you and you pay in way too much. Guess who gets it.
There is nothing good about identity theft. It's way more hassle than just having someone simply pay more into your SS acct. WAY MORE! Ask anyone who's suffered from it.
There were only 90 illeglas caught with frudulent SS#s. How do you figure the 1.5 million.
BTW: your POV is F...UP.
Nice try. The jobs won't be open for a YEAR......most raided companiess have opened up jobs to CITIZENS and they were filled immediately.
The article talks about stealing social security numbers, or other legal alien documents for the purpose of commiting fraud, whether the users pay into the SSA system or not. Fraud is considered an act of felony at the State and Federal level.

BTW, the City of Portland is a sanctuary city for illegal aliens. (Source: http://ojjpac.org/sanctuary.asp)
It looks like the Portland Mayor Tom Potter has no problem with identity theft or false documents. Portland, you got a major endorsing criminal activity!
I work with taxes all day, look up advanced EIC on the irs.gov site.
I notice you don’t mention any of the other things, like what if they file before you do? They take all you paid in? I cannot for the life of me why you think identity theft is AOK!!
