This morning on Fox and Friends there was made mention that much stricter fines are in the immigration reform bill. While this is true many folks may not know about a few words that follow the language about the tougher fines. Those words make a travesty of any "fines" as they can be waved and the employer could walk away owing nothing in penalties.
Here are the words I've got a problem with...
So while we're being told that "the penalties are tougher" we aren't being told that under some circumstances employers can face reduced or even no fine whatsoever.
At this point of time in our history America can't afford our officials not being completely truthful to us and not stating that the possibility exists for employers to potentially be let off the hook completely is simply unacceptable.
Your selection of, and focus on, what you see as a handful of ‘positives’ in the current immigration bill might fly if presented to the mainstream media for dissemination. But they don’t fly here. Here the majority of your readers are educated, well-informed, genuine conservatives. As such, we revere our nation’s heritage; we pledge our lives and sacred honors to defend her sovereignty; and we abhor political pandering whose ultimate goal is to make an end run around our beloved Constitution in order to subvert the sovereignty we hold so dear.
The President has been in office for six and a half years. During that time, he has done nothing substantive to stem the invasion that is occurring across our southern border. And now, as a result of his inaction, he and his strange-bedfellow democrat allies in Congress are using the excuse that there are too many illegals in this country to prosecute or deport. How dare he exacerbate the problem through nearly seven years’ worth of intentional inaction, and then use the results of that inaction as a defense for the travesty bill he has now placed before the American people.
In some very disturbing ways, the state of our republic is even worse off than it was back in the late nineties. Back then, despite the overt anti-liberty, anti-sovereignty crimes committed or condoned by so many in power in Washington, there was always a major group of republican/independent leaders and lawmakers who were decrying the duplicity and decay. They were voicing outrage and concern, and seeking the eventual power to administer an antidote to negate the toxic effects of the Clinton administration’s crimes. Whether consciously or not, we conservatives clung to the hope that they would someday … and sooner rather than later … be successful.
In 2000 the clouds appeared to disperse, and the sun shone on our republic once again.
Fast forward six and a half years and we conservatives are once again outraged by the behaviors of our leadership in Washington. Yet this time (at least in name only) that leadership is our own. So to whom, now, do we turn for the hope that springs from knowing that there are large numbers of people of like mind and purpose in our national government who are just as outraged as we?
Our southern border is being left open and vulnerable; undocumented foreigners are streaming into our country as a result. And our leadership in Washington remains relatively oblivious. Rather than look the evil in the eye, they are consumed with posturing, preening, preparing for the next election, and authoring bills that overflow with patronizing lip service and half-truths – the most glaring of which in the current bill are ‘temporary’ (but renewable for life) z-visas, immigrants fines (which only apply if the immigrant desires citizenship), and the newly-penned employer fines (whose description contains loopholes through which we could drive an entire fleet of Mack trucks).
One senate Republican aide, gutsy enough to call a spade a spade, recently observed that ‘there is a paralyzing fear of the illegal-immigrant lobby’ in Washington. It matters not that the large majority of American citizens believes that illegal immigrants should not be offered any kind of amnesty, and that an even larger majority wants to erect a security fence along our southern border. Representative government appears to have given way to rule by special interest and the amassing of political power.
Passions run high when a perception of deep betrayal, injustice, and the instinct to survive are a part of the mix. And I don’t believe any informed conservative can cite a time in his life when all three were more a part of his daily thoughts and fears than they are now.
It would appear that those who still possess sufficient insight to comprehend that we are under an unprecedented attack by an malevolent invading army, and who exhibit sufficient courage to declare that those in ‘leadership’ positions in Washington who are doing nothing about it are betraying this republic, find themselves in a shrinking and ill-treated minority that is consistently smeared, called radical, alarmist, hostile to Latinos, and a myriad of other undeserved labels.
Prudence and tolerance, at all costs, is not called for in the current political climate. Courage is.
We patriots are not calling for a revolution. We are begging our leadership to lead, so as to avoid one. Criminals are streaming across our border. Fifteen-plus million of them are living among us and thousands more are joining them each day … arrogantly demanding (and receiving) rights without responsibilities, staking out illegitimate claims to our homeland, looking at two-plus centuries of success and prosperity, built on the blood and sweat of those who came here with a respect for our laws and a willingness to shed their blood, and work from dawn to dusk … and the invaders are scheming to steal those hard-won successes and rewards, and to bring this republic to her knees in the process.
It’s parasitic. It’s wicked. It’s unjust. If this bill becomes law, the average American will soon find himself surrounded by an ocean of non-citizens who cost more than they contribute, who bear no allegiance to our republic, and who will actually be afforded more rights, in relation to their responsibilities, than the rest of us.
We exort our ‘leaders’ to stop the interminable, tread-water debates about how to deal with those illegal immigrants who have broken the law and are working in the U.S., and obtaining education, health care, court costs, legal representation, etc. at no cost, while the American taxpayer must pay obscenely burdensome taxes to obtain the same for his family. That criminal behavior and resultant inequity must be identified, acknowledged and corrected. But we face a much more pressing problem that needs to be solved now. And every day that you persist in political posturing simply serves to render the problem even more deadly. We must stop the flow of illegal immigrants. We must close our southern border. First.
If a deadly toxin is seeping into your house, in higher concentrations each day, do you sit in your livingroom debating among family members how you should attempt to neutralize its toxicity so as to avoid eventual death for you all? And do you quibble incessantly over who should have the power to make such decisions?
Or do you first locate, and seal up, the source of the leak?
It is becoming abundantly clear is that America’s sovereignty is now under relentless attack from both within and without her borders. Thanks to politicians (both republican and democrat) without character or conscience, obsessively focused on cheap labor and more votes (read: the amassing of personal and ideological power), our republic sits on the brink of a terrible abyss from which, for the first time in our history, only the American citizen can pull her back, by demanding that his government once again be accountable to the citizenry. After all, that is, and always has been, the life and breath of this republic. Without it, ‘America’ will cease to exist.

Any citizen knowingly employing, sheltering, concealing, or otherwise assisting (other than emergency medical care) an illegal alien shall suffer forfeiture of all property, real and personal, all assets, businesses, business licenses, and any other thing except his/her physical freedom and two changes of clothing; after which he/she may seek employment and start over.
"(b). Any non-citizen legally resident, acting as described in para (a) above, shall suffer the same penalty and be deported to his/her country of origin within 48 hours.
"(c). Any public official, in any branch of government, at any level, who under color of clemency, legal discretion, or other official privilege, shall obstruct, alter, or modify the swift application and extent of paras (a) and (b) to any degree soever, shall suffer the same penalty and be summarily removed from office."
(There's your teeth. That’s to keep judges from saying “ooooo, that’s too harsh” and governors etc. from handing out pardons to business-owner buddies.)
The “intentions” of the government are simply not credible based on past history and the actual wording of this bill. The illegals need to go home and apply for legal entry. The government needs to enforce the law. THEN we can discuss immigration.
Their penalty will decrease in direct proportion to the amount they give the RNC.
I do not trust you people to do the right thing. You haven’t yet, why should I believe that you will tomorrow?
Secondly, even if you did do the right thing, and enforce the law(why sure)who’s to say the next occupant of the white house would?

The President says giving 12-20 million illegal aliens instant legal status is not amnesty. We are not that stupid.
If the President wants support for immigration reform, enforce the laws he already signed and above all, TELL THE TRUTH.

The 20 to 30 million illegal aliens who currently reside in this country, many on welfare or just plain thieves are like vampires sucking the blood out of the middle class American who has obeyed the law, paid his/her taxes. All of this, so their children and grandchildren would have a decent life.
You guys need to get a clue, pick up any major newspaper from a large city in California or Texas and take a look at the crime rate. Take a look at the services being sucked dry, the hospitals going bankrupt.
I could really go on and on about this subject but considering your past lack of concern for your citizens I feel it really is hopeless to tell you what you should already know.

The President should think about what his legacy will be. It’s not looking very good at all.
Bush is trying to sell the future of this country to people who don't belong here. We have upwards of 20,000,000 illegal aliens who have invaded this country since the last amnesty of 1986. They were able to come here because Washington reneged on its promise in 1986 to enforce the immigration laws. We were told at that time that there would NEVER be another amnesty. Because of that promise and the promise to seal the border and beef up enforcement, the American people were compliant and welcomed those immigrants into our society.
But here we are 20 years later and 20 million illegal aliens have crossed the border and there has been no legitimate enforcement of any of the immigration laws. That is a million people a year. That is roughly equal to the entire population of Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Oregon, New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado combined!
And your boss wants to make all these people legal residents and eligible to bring in all their extended families from all over the planet.
You can promise future enforcement all you want and we are not going to believe you. Washington made all the promises in 1986 and broke every one of them. Now you claim that if we only grant amnesty to these 20 million lawbreakers that washington will finally get off it's duff and enforce the laws.
How stupid do you think we are? We will not stand for this amnesty sham again. Tell your boss to do his duty and stop this invasion. No amnesty. Enforce the laws we have. Don't try to snow us with your BS.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and this issue is much too important to give businesses who hire illegal aliens a bye on such a critical point of US law.
Enforce the laws we have now, and close the border, or else forget about our support.
This really is that simple.
Your assertion that you “do not seek to wrongly penalize honest employers who unknowingly hire illegal immigrants, therefore we reserve the right to reduce or mitigate...” is blatantly dishonest. You would be forcing employers into the legal system...another torturous bureaucratic nightmare for honest citizens and a boon to the lawyers who lap this stuff up.
In short, from ever angle this bill reeks of dishonest reactionary shortsightedness. Send a clear signal to our “amigos” in Latin America that the US is not a dumping ground for its disenfranchised! Re-focus our economic policies so that more people can stay in their homelands and reform their systems. Let illegal terrorists know that they will be caught, processed, and sent back to their camps not given temporary amnesty.
Most importantly of all: stop giving free passes to Muslims coming here from all over the ummah. One wife here and 2 more back there, they are spawning a future wave of immigrants the likes you have never seen.

essentially ALL illegal aliens and their employers (and welfare case workers) commit serious federal fraud FELONIES. Not just once, or occasionally, but often, in an ongoing criminal conspiracy. If this bill, or any other Simpson-Mazzoli Grande, fails to acknowledge this ongoing criminal enterprise; AND credibly prohibit it in the future, such a bill would only make a bad situation worse.

I’m a lifelong Republican. My wife worked three Republican congressional campaigns...two as a paid staff member and one as a volunteer. She also worked both of President Bush’s campaigns, walking door to door throughout the city in which we live. We have hosted numerous fund-raisers in our home.
Together, my wife and I have donated money to the Republican Party and Republican candidates for over 20 years. And, we’ve never...ever...supported or voted for a Democrat. Together, I believe we are as strong a Republican couple as the party will ever find.
However, if President Bush signs any measure into law that provides any sort of “pathway to citizenship” for anyone who came to the US illegally our affiliation with the Republican Party will end, permanently.
If you allow illegals a pathway to citizenship you will be putting criminals on an equal footing with my wife and me. I spent over 20 years in the US military, protecting the rights of US citizens. I didn’t make that sort of sacrifice to end up watching my country put criminal invaders on an equal political footing with law-abiding US citizens...something this bill will do.
I believe that the bill you’re currently trying to resurrect will not only destroy the Republican Party, but will eventually destroy the United States as we know it.

These fines, penalties, etc mean nothing if they are in place now and you drag your feet all along planning to invalidate em with amnesty to make all illegals legal............ nice try, thanks for stopping by telling us in a long drawn out manner you plan on doing nothing to those who hire illegals.

I love our President, I voted for him but on this issue he is WRONG. Enforce current law, seal the border NOW, register them all or deport them.
PS: Tell him to UNLEASH the Dogs of War in Iraq, let the military do its job and stop pussy footin’ around.
