Does Lindsey Graham truly believe that his highest calling as a senator is to work with the likes of Ted Kennedy? Apparently so, judging by the South Carolinian's statement on this morning's "Today." Meredith Vieira interviewed Graham, a staunch supporter of the president's immigration plan, during the show's first half-hour.
TODAY CO-HOST MEREDITH VIEIRA: When you went home recently you were at a GOP meeting and you got booed over immigration. There are a lot of people in a lot of states -- conservatives -- who think this bill is bad and they see this as a litmus test.Graham's statement is a perfect illustration of why so few senators ever get elected president. They become infatuated with process, with working with "my friend, the distinguished senator from the great state of" blah, blah, blah. Of course there are times when compromise is required. But, above all, senators are sent to Washington not to work with the other side but to fight for their principles. This is not a case of working with Ted Kennedy to do a "hard" thing -- it's working with him to do a bad thing.
SEN. LINDSEY GRAHAM [R-S.C.]: Well here's what I believe. This is a bill that's a million per cent better than the current system. I mentioned working with Ted Kennedy and I got booed. The lady in your piece earlier said no compromise. I'm a Republican conservative who believes my country is at risk by not solving immigration. I'm a member of the United States Senate who believes it's my job to work with Democrats to do hard things. This is no longer about immigration. Can your Congress, can your Senate, come together to do things that one party can't do itself? I think the answer is yes.
Senator Graham also said that if the Congress doesn't solve the immigration problem...in it's current state...the local grassroots voters will...thus causing disastrous economic recessions and/or depressions for their respective cities and states.
And I believe him...and have been stating so in here for months.
Gitt'er done!
Disgusting. You'll never hear a RAT talking like that. Did they work with Republican's on hard things such as:
Tax Cuts?
Social Security Reform?
The current War on Terror?
Stem Cell Research?
Foreign Policy?
Keeping our national security secret's secret?
Ol' Lyndsey's humping the wrong leg to get that VP nomination.
GOP negotiators of an immigration reform bill are crafting a large border security amendment with mandatory, immediate funding that they hope will assuage concerns of both Republicans and Democrats, FOX News has learned.
Lindsey .. we've been hearing that for at least 7 years and I think it's pretty safe to say ... the democrats don't want to work with us for the better of the country
I think Harry Reid made that pretty clear a few years back when he called the President of the United States a loser
We tried to get along ... Now it's time to face facts and move on
Oh ... and regardless of what you (Lindsey) say ... that immigration bill sucked
You are right. But if our vote for senators and representatives means nothing, which seems more and more to be true, we will have only one alternative left, and that alternative ain’t pretty. But given our general propensities, I think we can take them!!
He was pretty conservative when he was a congressman as I recall.
Repeal the seventeenth amendment.
Fred or Hillery? (gag)
Fred or Obama? (double-gag)
Fred or, or... hey they have pretty short list already!
I suppose in a way we do to.
Blah blah blah... The bill is better than the current system. Hey Lindsey, you don’t enforce any of the current system, so why should anyone believe any of the promises of enforcement in this new 600-page monstrosity? Background checks completed in 24 hours? Yet in some states I have to wait a week to purchase a gun while a background check is completed? Why oh why are the President and these jackass senators pushing this rat’s nest?
What ever happened to doing the right thing? What ever happened to representing the will of the people who made you a member of the United States Senate?
Lightloafer Lindsey Grahamnesty has got to be challenged and WHIPPED in the primaries before his 2008 reelection.
What a putz.....1,000,000%.........
All I really want is something that can provide control over who comes here (read:terrorists) and something to help us not have to all become bilingual to communicate with a Spanish-speaking, non-English speaking underclass.

You've been stating a lot of illegal-coddling nonsense here for months all the while ignoring the existing real world impact of the illegals in crime, healthcare and education. You were wrong then and you are wrong now.
{{{wink}}}
How much money you got to lose?
I unfortunately took French in high school. C’est la vie.
?
YOU: You were wrong then and you are wrong now.
ME: "How much money do you want to lose?"
