MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, June 12, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) A Minnesota couple welcomed the birth of all six of their sextuplets at St. Lukes Hospital in Minneapolis yesterday, although the couples and their childrens story would have been far different if doctors had their way.
"The babies arrived sooner than we'd hoped for, but we are optimistic," father Ryan Morrison said in a statement. "Brianna is doing well. Thanks to all who are praying for our family. We are very happy to be parents."
After 22 weeks, Brianna Morrison gave birth to four boys and two girls just before midnight Sunday. All six remain in critical condition and weigh between 11 ounces and 1 pound, 3 ounces. The couple named the boys Bennet Ryan, Tryg Benton, Lincoln Sean and Sylas Christopher. They named the girls Lucia Rae and Cadence Alana.
Ryan and Brianna Morrison, both 24, had spent more than a year trying to conceive, until Brianna began taking the fertility drug Follistim.
The story of the Morrisons six little blessings, as they call them, would have been different if they had followed the advice of doctors. After learning Brianna was carrying sextuplets, doctors strongly recommended selective reduction, a common euphemism for selective abortion, emphasizing they believed the potential risks were too great.
"However, we knew right away that this is not an option for us," the couple wrote on their website. "We understand that the risk is high, but we also understand that these little ones are much more than six fetuses. Each one of them is a miracle given to us by God."
Back in May, LA Times reporter Dan Neil revealed he and his wife decided to abort selectively two of their unborn quadruplets at 15 weeks on the similar advice of doctors. Neil said the procedure was a medical imperative and that they would have to lose two to keep two. He held his wifes hand as he watched the doctor inject potassium chloride into the heart of one son, and then the other.
As we listened to the sound of those six beating hearts I felt crushed by the weight of the miracle that was bearing down on me, wrote Ryan Morrison, feeling swallowed up by a life-changing act of God.
Despite having just a small 2 bedroom apartment, and only one crib, car seat and stroller, the Morrisons decided in those moments of utter confusion to embrace all their unborn blessings and trust in the providence of God.
Truly God would sustain us in this just as He has sustained us in everything weve ever experienced. He will bring the lives of these babies to full health and fruition and everyone will say, Look, God has done something amazing!

If he and his wife weren’t willing to have more than two, why select more than that to begin with?
The birth of these six, really is neat! : ) Congratulations to the parents.
Well, it could be that the mother was unable to ovulate. That was why I went on fertility drugs.
I read this, and it just froze me cold!! :-O
He was so matter of fact and cold-blooded about killing his two sons, it really shocked and astonished me...eugenics at its worst. :*(
Well, she post ultrasound pics of each pregnancy—if she was making it all up, she should have won an academy award for her performance! :-O
She’d been on the support group for several years, so I don’t think so—like I previously posted, if she was making it up, she was an incredible actress and went to a lot of detail about the SR procedures, etc. :*(
Totally sicko either way you look at it though.
The sad thing is, she never seemed to realize that her actions had consequences. She would repeatedly berate God for the results! I never wanted to smack someone upside the head like I did her...

After midnight here! Sorry.
I think multiple births are so neat. I hope to have a pregnancy where I have twins or triplets when I get married and start a family. However, I’ll accept whatever the Lord blesses me with. If it’s 6 or 7 kids, and I have to be on bed rest the whole pregnancy, I’ll do it.
I read the story where the father callously talked about having his two little boys killed. This story that you have told me seems even worse. The Lord blessed her with 14 kids. She killed 11, and she then got angry because the Lord probably didn’t think she was fit to parent the other three. Some people are truly repulsive. I would hate to be her when she has to face the Lord. She killed 11 people! :(
I’m not against fertility drugs, used them myself too, so perhaps she was unable to ovulate and it was left out of the story. One year and their age seems a short period of time to have already done enough testing, etc... to make the decision to go to fetility drugs. But thank GOD they kept them all, I’m looking forward to hearing good news about these babies!
I’ve been on those sites too, and there are a lot of trolls. I’m going to hope she is one of them..
I’d do complete bed rest, etc., whatever it took to keep those babies ‘cooking’ for as long as possible!
Actually, that person killed 14, because she had been deemed ‘healthy as a horse’ by her doctor, and told she would miscarry if she had so many fetuses killed...so she knew the probability was high that the remaining baby would die as well. :*(
I’m with you guys, but there’s still a part of me that doesn’t think she was lying...heavy sigh. I can’t imagine ever EVER being so calloused toward human life. I just can’t. :*(
Last night, on Discovery Health, a couple had the same option (no fertility drugs, and they had already lost two previous pregnancies) and they chose to keep all 5 - called the Ferrell Five.
God will provide. I hope He provides a house because an apartment with six kids will get real small in a hurry.
Yes. I saw that last night, as well as the SuperQuads.
I would not want to be this lady when she stands before God and all those babies on Judgement Day. Whew. She’s nothing but a murderer.
