This damned bill is like a zombie from Night of the Living Dead. Someone, kill the abomination once and for all.

If President Bush is successful in getting the immigration bill passed, it will put the Republican party on the ash heap of history.

The President’s oath is to enforce the laws, not press the Congress for new ones. He is way out of line.

The bill has been bought and paid for by industry that wants its supply of cheap labor guaranteed. The initial appearances that it’s dead are just for show. It’s very much alive, and it will pass no matter how many calls are made. The one that passes will be slightly different.

The politicians who support this bill are thralls of the businesses that use illegal labor. These businesses want to pass part of the cost of doing business on to the American taxpayer (in the form of health care, education, food stamps, etc). It’s a huge corruption of our government, a corruption of those we put into a position to protect our interests. They’re refusing to fulfill the oaths of their offices.

We need to throw these criminals over the side.

Bush, who has made immigration reform amnesty for illegals a the top priority of his second presidential term.

There, how about some real accuracy in reporting?

Bush has nothing to lose. He either does not care what he does to the party to which he is the titular leader or he is just plain stupid. Maybe he is both. The country is left depending on some Democrats in the House who are smarter than Jorge and understand that if they want to continue a career in elected office they better stay away from amnesty. The backlash and there will be backlash will be on House seats. I voted for Jorge twice and I am left trusting some House Democrats to act out of self-interest in order to stop what will be an incredible expansion of the social welfare state and totally destroy a middle class which does the right thing and believes in the rule of law.

If he put 1/4 of that tenacity to enforcing the current laws and getting Hunter’s fence built, the problem would largely go away.

"I'm going to work with those who are focused on getting an immigration bill done and start taking some steps forward again. I believe we can get it done. I'll see you at the bill signing."

I read somewhere that the President has a three part strategy to get this bill passed. The first part was to act confident. If I happen to find the site/thread that outlined the strategy, I will post it on this thread.

The President has a lot of power, but he will not be running for office again. It is up to us to persuade the Senators that they have more to fear from us than from the President.

Don't wait until morning. Call/fax/email NOW. And again in the morning.

The illegal immigration problems we have need to be fixed, but legalization will only through gas on the fire.

The illegal immigration problem is easily solved without new legislation. Just enforce the current immigration laws! The illegals already here will self deport once that happens.
