Maybe using alcohol to fuel cars will raise drink prices enough so the drunks will only be able to afford to walk to the bars. Best of both worlds.

This wouldn’t be an issue if farming was embraced. We have lots of farmland being loss to development and regulations

and American beer could follow if barley production keeps declining here.Unless of course one is used to the Anheuser-Busch swill which is made almost entirely from rice.

Perhaps we can reclaim some of our government mandated affordable housing (i.e. guaranteed gub’mint ghetto) tracts as farmland, now that it makes economic sense.

But domestic brewers so far have avoided big price hikes. Probably because the biggest part of the price of Bud is TV advertising, and that price is dropping. They sure aren't spending it on ingredients or breewing.

Yup nothing but hype to get the futures prices to rise since most of the crops have just been plated with some exceptions like in the Far Northern states ND MN which I think just started.

Efficiencies in the brewing industry could help stave off dramatic price hikes domestically, since "they can brew more beer today with less barley,''
As one who appreciates a rich glass of beer and knows something about brewing (from homebrewing), the thought of more breweries brewing w/ less barley is not a good thing. You can keep your swill brewed w/ corn, rice and other adjuncts, but give me 100% barley beer any day.

Also expect increases in the price of whiskey, particularly bourbon, as supplies currently being aged in barrels are depleted.
The government raised the price of cigarettes, but I didn't say anything because I didn't smoke. The goverment's policies raised the price of corn flakes, but I didn't say anything because I would rather eat bacon and eggs. Now the government's policies are raising the price of my beer and it's too late to say anything.

I wonder if the price of soft drinks is also going up. Soda, as you know, is sweetened with corn syrup and not sugar because of another instance of government meddling.

And as more raise corn and the barley/agave/potato crops go up, they’ll shift back.

Simply really. Start putting sugar in my Coca-Cola and stop using the high-fructose corn syrup.
Here's a thought Dems! Pass a corn syrup tax on all soft drinks. heh heh. You love taxes! You love taxing huge corporations!! heh heh. C'mon! You know you wanna. Taxes. The pause that refreshes!
