SRINAGAR, India --A group claiming to represent the al-Qaida terror network declared a holy war on India over its partial control of the divided Himalayan region of Kashmir, Indian officials said Saturday. A statement and video was sent Friday to the Current News Service, in Srinagar, the main city of India's Jammu-Kashmir state, in which a masked man standing next to an automatic weapon read the declaration.

"We declare righteous holy war against India on behalf of God the great in which Jammu and Kashmir will be the launch pad for holy war in India,"

Fighting terror: Israeli army team to visit Kashmir (INDIA)

NEW DELHI: A top-level Israeli military delegation will be in India next week on a hush-hush visit to discuss counter-terrorism and anti-infiltration strategies in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said the delegation, to be led by Israeli deputy chief of general staff, Major General Moshe Kaplinsky, will be visiting some places in J&K, including the 16 Corps headquarters in Nagrota, which is responsible for guarding the line of control south of the Pir Panjal range.

The Israeli visit comes at a time when the LoC has suddenly become hot with terrorists making concerted efforts to sneak into India from across the border. Official Army figures show a two to three-fold jump in infiltration in April and May this year compared with the same period in 2005 and 2006.

“In May alone, 11 terrorists were killed in seven infiltration bids foiled by our soldiers along LoC. But many crossings go undetected,” said an officer.

Army chief General J J Singh himself said on Wednesday that there were reports to show that ‘‘some elements’’ of Pakistan Army and ISI were giving “support” to infiltrating terrorists.

Curious to know if the reason Al Qeda hasn’t declared war on the Chinese, who are not at all shy about persecuting any religious group, is because they don’t have much contact with the Chinese Muslims or because the Chinese are giving them technical and material aid against the rest of us?

Al Qeda made another huge mistake here. I’m glad to have India and the US on the same side on yet another issue.

Good try, but the Muslim separatists have been causing problems there since at least the 1920s, immediately after WWI. This group seems to try threats against any nation it sees as invading its territory.
