But slapping tighter limits on immigration is a priority for many conservatives. When it came to the temporary worker program, their interests overlapped with those of pro-labor groups concerned about a flood of low-wage workers.

Media still trying to make this a partisan issue. Across the board the majority of Americans want our current laws enforced.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., defended the administration. "The White House has worked like a dog," he told reporters. Indeed, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff lobbied senators inside the Capitol right up until Thursday's showdown vote.

Stunning. Chertoff is too busy lobbying to give amnesty for illegals to do his damn job - recall that he admitted a few months ago that DHS can't even track visa overstays.

If that doesn't show what is wrong with the Bush Admin nowadays, I don't know what does.

“”I am getting calls, but I would say to my constituents: Do you have no faith in me after 35 years that I am just going to buy a pig in a poke here, or be for something that is bad?” Lott said.”

LOLOLOLOL Heck no, people don’t have any faith in you. You have been rolled too many times to count. It all began about the time of the FBI files were found in the White House.

Be careful, be wary, be suspicious...this turkey is going to come back to life when we least expect it. I can just see it coming to the floor at 2AM. My senators already know that regardless of how this turns out, they’re in for a major battle when they come up for reelection. We will not forget their seditious behavior.

It's not even about tighter limits on immigration. It is about not re-creating the guest worker fiasco that is now haunting Europe.

Trent Lott is Poster Boy #1 for term limits for congresscritters.

Its about national identity. The elite wants to dissolve America. We want to preserve her. That's the core issue from which the politicians and the media want to duck. But its out there like a grenade with the safety pin thrown away.

He figures if he drags a few more barrels of pork back to Mississippi, all will be foregiven.

I hope the voters back home prove him wrong.

“The White House has worked like a dog,”
Should read:
“The White House has worked on this dog,”

Kaye Hutchinson said on the floor the other day that we now have 4.5 million visa overstays. Amazing they wanted the same agency to monitor another 20 plus million of them.

I have no”faith” in any politician. I look at what they are trying to accomplish. This was a bad bill.
