Mismanaged policy, all around.
State Dept. didn't count with the monumental landslide-plus-avalanche of passport applications, and DHS didn't count with the monumental aggravation they would cause on the traveling public, besides not having an efficient implementation program. It is as if DHS just said "let's ask for passports to all US citizens entering the country", and left it at that.
Well, I got my passport already, but I feel for those who don't.

Same here. I have had mine for a few years and am glad to have it in hand.

angry complaints from Americans whose summer vacations are threatened
It was like we were saying the other day, TV is just not the same without Islamists flying planes into buildings and something needed to be done about that. Lazy Americans who can't be bothered to follow current events should be the perfect excuse to spice up TV. I was even going to cancel my cable out of boredom.

I applied to renew my passport back in February. I still haven’t gotten it back yet. Ugh.

I've had a passport since I was 14. My photo is getting old, however (it was taken 9 years ago, when I was in grad school).
Anyone who just decides to travel abroad "spur of the moment" for anything other than a dire emergency without thinking about the need for a passport is idiotic.

I QUESTION THE TIMING.Betcha the Mexicans and terrorists haven't. With open borders, the "war on terror" is a joke. Anyone who supports the amnesty bill should be put in jail.

And this is the same bureaucracy that was supposed to handle 20 million z visas.

These are the same clowns who were going to issue 20 million Z-visas and do a one-day credentials check on the illegals.
Think the news of this was being held until after the Senate amnesty vote?

Hmmmm, my Darling Daughter got hers in about a month, in plenty of time for her trip to Oz in a few weeks.
Maybe Americans need to learn to plan ahead?

They can screw themselves. I and many Montanans simply won’t go to Canada any longer.

Funny how it is announced anonymously ... and right AFTER the Shamnesty bill croaks.
Withheld to try to keep the Citizen uproar from being even more loud and assertive?
Inoculation for the next version of the Bill?
Just overheard on the radio, Duncan Hunter calling again for building the fence, authorized in the bill from last year. That’s an American.
And thank you, Alabama, for Jeff Sessions!

My wife’s mother (both Canadian) has to go in for unexpected surgery. There is no way they could process the application in time.
I should pass along your comment to her, and let her provide a reply on this thread.
