The amendment infuriated Graham, a South Carolina Republican with close ties to another presidential hopeful, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. Pacing the Senate floor and waving Obama's amendment, Graham loudly accused Obama of undermining a delicate agreement whose advocates have shown political courage. Issues that require bipartisanship often fail, Graham said, "because some people, when it comes to the tough decisions, back away." Obama's amendment, he said, would destroy the bill's prospects and bring special woe to Republicanssuch as himselfwho have endured conservatives' searing criticism for backing it.
It would undercut "everybody over here who's walked the plank and told our base, 'You're wrong,'" Graham said. "So when you're out on the campaign trail, my friend, tell them about why we can't come together. This is why."

I would fill in the blank, but then, per Ann Coulter, I would have to go to rehab.
Saw his little hissy fit last evening. Incredible. Kennedy had his fine moments also. Both looked like they were going to blow a gasket.
Graham is a Drama Queen.
If Obama’s amendment destroys this bill it would be the best thing he has ever done.
I see Graham has picked up John McCain's unpleasant use of "my friend" when he means just the opposite.
Graham cracker is soggy.
I heard his rant on Laura Ingraham’s show this morning. He sounded decidedly Queeg-like.
If I know the people of South Carolina as well as I think I do, Lindsey Graham not only walked the plank, but did so carrying a 500 pound anchor.
Treasonous bastard?
Turncoat?
Quisling?
Milktoast?
Democrat operative?
Corporate shill?
Did I win?
Graham will hopefully be unemployed next year!
This is basically how John Edwards ended up a one term Senator.
Graham admits that his base is furious. Basically he’s begging for this bill to pass, because he will be walking the plank and booted out of office if itb does not pass.
I got news for u sweet lindsey. You are a goner either way.
Graham has been sucking up to McCain for so long he’s forgotten that he’s supposed to be a conservative from a conservative state. Last month he thought he’d be McCain’s choice for VP. This month he sees his political future imploding.
Citizens should have the right of suing pols who make promises when they are running for office and getting amnesia when they are elected. It would only need a few of them to have to pay out a few bucks to their constituents and soon honesty would fill the air.
