I don’t remember when the last real filibuster was used in the Senate. I know that Strom had the record and it was more than 24 hours. I must admit that I don’t know the Senate rules enough to know if a handful of Senators could keep rotating and yielding to each other holding up the vote. Sometimes there is an agreement to limit speaking time for each speaker. Perhaps someone knows the rules here on FR?

If it doesn’t pass, some lawyers could make money implementing the solution — RICO lawyers could turn it around in a few years and MAKE MONEY at the same time. I’m surprised they haven’t done it already.

In the absence of enforcement,we can get the word out in the meantime that there is money to be made in filing RICO lawsuits against employers who hire illegal aliens.

Employers would have no trouble shutting down the border if they could get sued by someone under the RICO statutes for hiring these people in the first place. The next time an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or somesuch thing, I’m going to point out that the victim’s family might be able to seek compensation from the employer under these statutes in the hopes that it would catch on. If this did catch on, would see such a swift backlash against illegal immigration that no employer would go near these people and they’ll all simply want to go back home.

In case you didn’t know the funding was revoked-doesn’t matter. They have no intention of building a fence or enforcing exisiting laws nor would they enfoce new laws if this shamnesty bill passes.

This is way too ruthless and insistent to be a "legacy" issue. There is something deeply rotten and suspicious about George Bush's commitment to this atrocity.

Hit the democrats in heavy unionized States as well. Both Senators from West Virginia (Byrd & Rockefeller) & Stabenow from Michigan voted for the Coburn amendment. Also hit Red State democrat Senators from Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, Indiana & Louisiana who voted for the Coburn amendment.
