An AP article just came across the wire detailing another gaffe by presidential hopeful Mitt Romney (R-Mass.). Apparently, while in New Hampshire, Romney was confronted by an openly gay women who was disturbed by the former governors position on gay marriage. And in challenging him, she may have unwittingly changed or re-changed or re-re-changed his position on gay rights.
There are other ways to raise kids thats fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice, he said.
Umm
what? Weve lost track now, but we thought Romney opposed gay adoption and gay marriage. We have stopped being surprised by his all-too-often position changes - even from one month to the next - but we certainly never expected him to say gay couples raising kids is the American way.
“...faggots should never be allowed near children period.”
IMHO, anybody who would use the word “faggot” as an epithet displays a frame of mind that automatically disqualifies themselves from legitimacy on the issue.
Somehow, too many of us who call ourselves “Christian” seem to forget that gays, as poor as their choices may have been, are every bit as much loved by God and children of Him as the rest of us poor sinners. Redemption is just as open to them as to anybody else.
Such displays of bigotry only server to legitimize the slurs that Liberals sling against Conservatives. It’s time for such people to grow up and display a little Christ-like charity.
[/ranting tangent]
you Morman haters are so funny!
What the heck are you talking about? My brother and his family are Mormon... My lack of support for Romney has nothing to do with his religion.
BTW, it’s spelled Mormon, not Morman.
“Id like for an ACTUAL Mormon (that is also a true RR Conservative) to speak-out and tell these seminar callers from the Mitt Romney camp to SHUT UP about his faith...”
I agree. We’ve seen a shift. A few weeks ago, it was predominantly Romney detractors who first brought up Mormonism as an issue. I.E., “I’d never vote for a cult member!” etc.
Every time they did this the Wrath of the Mormon Freeper (of which I am one) descended with Great Vengeance upon their heads. Those were some pretty long threads.
Fortunately, most of us have learned from those exchanges that such contention does no good. It appears to me that, now, it’s generally Romney defenders (some Mormon, some not) that first bring up his religion as a sort of “discrimination shield” to try and invalidate the opinions of the Romney detractors. It’s equally unproductive and does nothing to forward the core question - who is the best man for the job?
“...hes not Conservative.”
I’m not convinced of that. He is a consummate politician, and that does at times make his actual positions difficult to parse. That is something we’ve gotten spoiled about with Bush - agree with him or not, you generally know where he stands on a given issue.
Every “He’s not a conservative” criticism I’ve heard about Romney, though, boils down to a matter of perspective, and equally valid explanations for his actions and statements have been easily found. This thread is an example. Do you construe his statement one way or the other? That decision is largely influenced by whether you support the man or don’t. Therefore, such subjective analysis does little to influence my opinion of the man one way or the other.
“But seriously, look at the Mormon responses on this thread.”
Non sequiter. I count four known Mormons on this thread. Two of us are not Romney supporters. The threads to which you refer are mostly from non-Mormons who support Romney. Therefore, the bulk of your post is invalidated.
“Many Mormons are probably going to vote for him because he’s a Mormon, regardless of the alarm bells and the contradictions. They probably feel that he will best respresent their interests.”
Such voters are as dangerous as any knee-jerk voter, such as, for example, blacks who vote (D) just because it’s a (D). Personally, I work to disabuse any fellow Mormons I meet from such a point of view. Romney’s religion should not be a factor in the decision. Frankly, it’s not that big a deal right now because Mormons are about as interested in presidential primary elections as an other average American.
Just WHAT was mean, name calling, hateful in post #162??
According to WW in the 1890's, GOD does!

God certainly does love all His children, including the homosexual ones. But what does the Bible say about those who abuse children? It is just plain evil to put children into a homosexual household and to teach children that perversion is okay.
We lustful non-LDS members thank you...
Dang!
You’ve learned how to LINK, too!
You go girl!
If everything else is equal.... HMmm......
An excellent selection ! (Although what that has to do with Precious Willard being an ignorant slut...). And that’s not what is at the BOTTOM of my profile. Check again. ;-)
