McCain stands alone on immigration bill
cnn ^ | June 6, 2007

Posted on 06/06/2007 8:31:35 PM PDT by mdittmar

Sen. John McCain defended his support of a controversial immigration reform bill from criticism by other Republican presidential hopefuls Tuesday night as the GOP contenders held their first debate in New Hampshire.

"America is still the land of opportunity, and it is a beacon of hope and liberty and, as Ronald Reagan said, a shining city on the hill," McCain said. "And we're not going to erect barriers and fences."

When I call our reps, I ask everyone the same question: Do you personally know any illegal aliens? Does anyone else on your staff know any illegals?

The answer has universally been “No”. I am trying to point out that this bill that they would not deny is to benefit the illegals, comes from people who don’t even know the people they are dealing with.

Have any of’em read Victor Hansen’s “Mexifornia”?

Have any of them lived in neighborhoods that are predominately composed of illegals? They have no idea what the dreams and aspirations of the illegals are. It is by in large, not to become american citizens. It is not to learn English. It is to save enough money after what they are now sending back to return home to Mexico and own property. It is not to assimilate with the culture of the gringo, or learn his language.

This is the complete opposite of the lawful immigrant, many of which I know. They are here to stay, and they know the language and embrace the culture even as they preserve their own.

I’ll never forget when my next door neighbor’s family’s 5 year old made a remark about me (they are illegals). “——— the gringo-——the gringo——” The entire family laughed. How cute is the little boy’s hatred of the gringo next door.

He would not listen, he’s not listening still.
Perhaps he never will...

In defernce to the fact that he is a war hero, I limit my attacks on McCain. He is now a very angry old man. Go home, Johnny. Leave your doors unlocked and your gates wide open. Bad things will only happen if you believe they will.

Here's a few more questions...

Have any of them ever lost had their wages depressed or lost their jobs to ILLAGALS?

Have any of them ever had the closest emergency room to their home close because it could not absorb the high costs of treating ILLEGALS who burden it with non-paying visits?

Have any of them been personally effected by the lawlessness of ILLEGALS?

The list goes on.

McStain is such a fool.

Importing poverty to create a slave class drags us all down.

You may be correct. The Arizona Republican Party has had bad blood with McInsaine. The problem is that they will have to wait until 2010 to make their dissatisfaction known. In the mean time, Mcinsaine’s run for the Presidency may be like a pool shot: it may be a bank shot that lands him a cabinet position. Such may be just as good as voting him out of office. I can see him in a cabinet position only for a few months before he is forced to turn in his resignation. Then he will be out of a Senate seat, out of a cabinet position and not President of the United States. And that would be a fitting consequence for all the things he has done to betray the American people.

MCCAIN: “In the case of the fence, in populated areas WE NEED a fence. There are some trackless areas through the desert that we can probably address it more effectively through use of radar sensors etc., but that’s kind of a decision that the experts give us the right advice.”

“Look, I live in a border state, but I am not sure exactly which area is best protected by building a physical fence or having the kind of virtual fence that may be more effective. But certainly in the populate areas and near them, WE NEED a fence.”

Senator McCain was a hero during his imprisonment in Viet Nam and is a hero facing the mass, visceral hatred directed at him as a consequence of his position on illegal immigration.

His opponents hurl mindless slogans that can never be implemented as policies, yet they believe they have the moral high ground.

I have never liked or supported Senator McCain but his courage and determination on this issue is appealing.

Does he have a fence around his home?

That's a great question.

The border fence people should be focusing on all these pols with their estate fences and their gated communities and asking why the rest of us don't deserve a fence around our border.

It could be very very effective. And exposing hypocrisy generally does quite well with the voters.

It's not all bad. Rents will be cheaper for our children in the new Amexica.

And the elites will have a bottomless pool of cheap maids and gardeners.

If anyone is mindless, it is those who believe the United States can continue to be subject to the invasion of tens of millions of people from other nations with cultural norms and political systems far different from those of our nation’s founders and builders without transforming our culture and political system in the direction of the Third World. You may call McCain’s stand courageous, but a better term would be betrayal of the faith and nation of his fathers.

JOHN McCAIN IS CERTIFIABLE

I was listening to Air America recently, which show I forget, but the host made a very funny although a dangerously accurate comment comparing McCain to the Slim Pickens character in Dr. Strangelove or; How I Stopped Worrying And Learned To Love The Bomb. As you fellow boomers will remember he played the role of bomber pilot Major “King” Kong waving his cowboy hat rodeo-style as he rides a nuclear bomb onto its target. I thought this was a funny yet sad commentary on a man who valiantly served his Country and endured unspeakable torture that most of us would have broken under and in his twilight years has actually lost it. He has totally destroyed his legacy. Love him or hate him the man was a tough SOB. It is always sad to see such a person melt down in public.
