Sen. John McCain defended his support of a controversial immigration reform bill from criticism by other Republican presidential hopefuls Tuesday night as the GOP contenders held their first debate in New Hampshire.

"America is still the land of opportunity, and it is a beacon of hope and liberty and, as Ronald Reagan said, a shining city on the hill," McCain said. "And we're not going to erect barriers and fences."

“And we’re not going to erect barriers and fences.””

Does he have a fence around his home?

He is buried so deep into the wage depression lobby money he publicly repeats their purchased explanations without shame.

Reagan wanted a wall - just in 1987 the Dems reneged and never built the thing

If we don’t do the latter, it will cease to be the former.

I met McCain and his wife several months ago. If I was him I'd get a bowl of viagra and go home to Arizona. He's never going to be president and he's not long for this world. He should go have some fun.

McCain would never do this, his ego is HUGE! A monster.

If McCain won’t protect the country from people who largely have no desire to assimilate and feel it is their right to ignore our immigration laws and America somehow owes them this, then McCain should lose his seat in the Senate. Plain and simple.

I am sure his defeat in the primaries will drive him wild. Guess there’s always a silver lining to every dark cloud.

“Does he have a fence around his home?”

Along the same lines, ‘does he have a lock on his door?’. Having a lock on your door doesn’t mean you don’t like your neighbors. It means that you are a pragmatist and recognize that in the world we live in you have to protect yourself. If we are to preserve the America that everyone wants to come to then we need to protect ourselves. There are already barriers, so that part of the argument is moot. Even as a citizen we all have to have a passport and pass through immigration in order to get back into the country when we’ve been abroad. The issue isn’t whether or not we are going to have any kind of barriers. The question is ‘how effective are they going to be?’. McCain is fighting the wrong battle.

Indeed. I wish I could be in his presence when he realizes he will NEVER be President. I would laugh for all patriotic citizens. What McCain and other traitorous Senators are doing is literally trying to legislate our beautiful United States of America into a third world decaying socialist hell.

Politicians such as McCain deserve nothing but our contempt. I pray that every Senator who votes for this disgusting bill, will be voted out of office.

That lunatic mentality is exactly what the islamofascists are relying on.
