Clinton: "Something Has to be Taken Away from Some People"

During a nationally broadcast forum Monday evening on faith and politics Sen. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) attacked the free market and told listeners in that order to attain energy independence and provide universal health coverage, it would be necessary to “take away from some people.”

“An uninsured person who goes to the hospital is more likely to die than an insured person,” Clinton said. “I mean, that is a fact. So what do we do? We have to build a political consensus. And that requires people to give up a little bit of their own turf in order to create this common ground.”

She went on, “The same with energy. You know, we can’t keep talking about our dependence on foreign oil and the need to deal with global warming and the challenge that it poses to our climate and to God’s creation and just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people.”

Clinton made these comments near the end of her allotted 15-minute portion of the event.

Clinton also said that “the adult society has failed” young people “who are tremendously influenced by the media culture and by the celebrity culture.”

“I think that we have failed them in our churches, our schools and our government,” she said. “And I certainly think the free market has failed. We’ve all failed.”

The New York senator said something similar to “taking things away from some people” at a June 2004 private fundraising event in San Francisco. There, Associated Press reporter Beth Fouhy wrote that Clinton told attendees Democrats should take money back from taxpayers who benefited from President Bush’s tax cuts.

Clinton told her donors, “We're not coming to you, many of whom are well enough off that actually the tax cuts may have helped you, and say 'we're going to give you more.' We're saying, 'you know what, for America to get back on track and be fiscally responsible, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you.”

She added, “We’re going to take things away form you on behalf of the common good.”

On the campaign trail, each of the three leading Democrats running for their party’s nomination for President, Clinton, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards and Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), have said he or she would repeal the Bush tax cuts to help finance universal health care.

The June 4 event was hosted by Sojourners, a social justice movement for progressive Christians. Founder Jim Wallis is the author of “God’s Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn’t Get It.”

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien moderated the forum. It aired on that station Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Edwards and Obama also participated.

“I wonder how many times you can use the word “failed” in one sentence?”

And her irritating, “You know...” ad nauseum.

Smartest women in the world? *SPIT*

“We’re going to take things away form you on behalf of the common good.” Repubs better have this lined up for campaign commercial. . .alongside of Fidel; showing what he took from his citizens; and with overlays of Hugu Chavez; saying much the same thing. . .they can show plug being pulled; literally on Venezuela TV station and the citizens, themselves.

Sorry, but we are going to hear it more and more. There is a huge crowd out there who love hearing that the rich are going to get poorer and the poor are going to get richer, (without working for it, of course.) It is socialism at it’s best and that is the way this country has been indoctrinated for years, ever since Hillary marched in the 60’s.

She should lead by example. She has at least 2 mansions and I heard building another one in the Bahamas (or Costa Rica..somewhere tropical). Her sad excuse for a husband rakes in megadough from his “speaking engagements” but yet boasts about the tax cuts he gets. No shame. They disgust me.

I have heard (with my own two ears- not from a friend of a friend) Hilliary talking about "the failure of this capitalist system of ours" (I am pretty certain that is an EXACT quote)

Does anyone know how to do a Nexus search to find the video of her saying that? It has to be like 10 years ago (at least)

Certainly “the government” failed our children when the clinton’s were the government.

I’ve been thinking about what Hillary means when she says that something must be taken away from some people. In regard to socialized health care, she means that those of us with good health insurance will have to give that up so that the uninsured and even the illegals can have comparable health insurance. Remember the mainstay of socialized healthcare is to delay and deny. Socialized medicine doesn’t work without at least a 90 day wait period for treatment. That way if the patient dies in the meantime, that’s one less patient to treat. Ask the people in Vermont or Canada. A nine month wait for back surgery, a three month wait for a broken hip, that’s what my sister-in-law in Vt experienced.

Let’s start with Teddy’s view of Nantucket Sound. He has virtually killed the Cape Wind Project would would erect 130 windmills in Nantucket Sound. This wind farm would provide three-fourths of the power needed by Cape Cod and nearby islands, which is now largely supplied by coal-fired plants.

Of course, with these Marxists, none of the sacrifices apply to them. Sacrifices only apply to the peons and those pesky capitalists.

Memo To Hillary:

Who made you the judge of how good a job churches are doing?

Eternally,

My just-out-of-college brother in law is ignorant enough to vote for her. He thinks it’s all peace and love and sharing....doesn’t realize it’s socialism/communism. I tried to explain to him that this kind of gov’t/society never works, but he has been brainwashed by professors for the past 5 years, and of course he knows more than everyone else. Give him 10 years and he might start thinking for himself. (A la all college students/grads.) In the meantime, it’s the plethora of brainwashed younger people (under 30) who will support this mindset. Those who don’t know history are bound to repeat it.
