Pentagon officials are hoping that members of Congress will notice that the senior admiral in charge of the U.S. Pacific Command set the stage for violating congressional limits on military exchanges with China by recently offering to help Beijing build an aircraft carrier.
Adm. Tim Keating, the U.S. Pacific Command leader, told reporters during his visit to China last month that while building and operating a carrier battle group is complex, the United States is willing to help.
"We would, if they choose to develop [an aircraft-carrier program], help them to the degree that they seek and the degree that we're capable, in developing their programs," Adm. Keating said.

Walmart sure has some serious pull.
If this is true, Keating needs to be court-martialed.
And this is different from Pelosi’s aid and comfort to the enemy how...?
WTF??????????????
Is Bill Clinton still in the White House? This Admiral sure makes it seem so!!
Are we at war with China?
Really, all suspicions and worries aside, is China an enemy to the USA?
I wouldn't classify China as an ally to the US, but I don't consider them an enemy at this time either.
Pentagon officials shouldn't be running to congress, unless they've exhausted their options in handling this within the executive branch.
That being said, Bush has done a horrible job of cleaning the trash out of the executive branch, and thins sound like another example of trash that needs to be removed.
Interesting. Generals and flag officers are no longer part of any American warfighting effort but ONLY political careerists acting as millstones around the necks of the military. Iraq is a perfect example. Virtually any NCO with a tour under his or her belt could explain how to win there, but there’s not a general there or at the Pentagon who would dare voice such action. War is about actively searching out the enemy and killing him. It’s not some police action with pages of rules of engagement, accomplished by catch and release of enemy fighters, heavily leavened with second guessing of grunts by JAGs, as is the case now as brought to you by general and flag officers, who rarely leave the comfort of air conditioned offices in heavily fortified camps.
I'd call them more of a competitor than an enemy at this point.
Some times it is in our interests to work with them, sometimes it is in our interests to work against them.
However, they do concern me as a competitor that has a good chance of elevating themselves to enemy status at some time in the future.
They’re going to build them anyway so what better way to see what they end up with and their capabilities than to “ help them”?
You actually make my point for me.
To a much greater extent, we are in a low-grade conflict with Syria and Iran. Therefore, Pelosi’s actions are much more serious.
Pentagon Officials hoping CONGRESS will notice? Isn't this THEIR job?
Oh ... I see.
Critics say the comments are a sign that the U.S.-China military exchange program is spinning out of control under Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Adm. Mike Mullen, the chief of naval operations, who recently hosted a visit to the U.S. by Chinese Adm. Wu Shengli.
Still, no need to bother Congress. I'm sure the Commander In Chief can handle this one.
Was Germany or Japan an enemy of ours in, say, 1936? Not technically speaking, no. But I'd think that it would've been extremely foolhardy at best to give them this kind of leg up. Giving a very serious and unfriendly competitor this kind of capability can turn them into an enemy who thinks he can take you.
I agree with you. My reply was in response to a comparison between this Admiral and Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi was flirting with treason in a time of war, where the Admiral is making a monumentally huge Error in Judgment.
Beware the sleeping dragon!
or was that Bear?
Hmmmmmmmmmmm?
Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
This is a medium volume pinglist.
I agree, the moron is talking a good bit above his pay grade.
