WMUR-TV, CNN, and the New Hampshire Union Leader will host a Republican debate in Manchester, New Hampshire on the campus of Saint Anselm College. Moderated by Wolf Blitzer. Debate begins at 7 p.m. EDT (4 p.m. PDT) and will last two hours.
I liked how Paul tonight linked Christian Just War Theory with pro-life principles.
Rudy Giuliani is consistently anti-life.
Rudy is principally anti-Christian on all issues across the board. Yippee!
That is why we have the amnesty nonsense.
They want to create the North American Union with Mexico, Canada, and the former USA.
Congress Must Say Yes or No to War Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) October 8, 2002
Last week, during a hearing in the House International Relations committee, I attempted to force the committee to follow the Constitution and vote to declare war with Iraq. The language of Article I, section 8, is quite clear: only Congress has the authority to declare war. Yet Congress in general, and the committee in particular, have done everything possible to avoid making such a declaration. Why? Because members lack the political courage to call an invasion of Iraq what it really is – a war – and vote yes or no on the wisdom of such a war. Congress would rather give up its most important authorized power to the President and the UN than risk losing an election later if the war goes badly. There is always congressional "support" for a popular war, but the politicians want room to maneuver if the public later changes its mind. So members take half steps, supporting confusingly worded "authorizations" that they can back away from easily if necessary.
It’s astonishing that the authorization passed by the committee mentions the United Nations dozens of times, yet does not mention the Constitution once. Congress has allowed itself to be bypassed completely, even though much is made of the President’s generosity in "consulting" legislators about the war. The real negotiations took place between the Bush administration and the UN, replacing debate in the people’s house. By transferring its authority to declare war to the President and ultimately the UN, Congress not only violates the Constitution, but also disenfranchises the American electorate.
I don’t believe in resolutions that cite the UN as authority for our military actions. America has a sovereign right to defend itself, and we don’t need UN permission or approval to act in the interests of American national security. The decision to go to war should be made by the U.S. Congress alone. If Congress believes war is justified, it should give the President full warmaking authority, rather than binding him with resolutions designed to please our UN detractors.
Sadly, the leadership of both parties on the International Relations committee fails to understand the Constitution. One Republican member stated that the constitutional requirement that Congress declare war is an anachronism and should no longer be followed, while a Democratic member said that a declaration of war would be "frivolous." I don’t think most Americans believe our Constitution is outdated or frivolous, and they expect Congress to follow it.
When Congress issued clear declarations of war against Japan and Germany during World War II, the nation was committed and victory was achieved. When Congress shirks its duty and avoids declaring war, as with Korea, and Vietnam, the nation is less committed and the goals are less clear. No lives should be lost in Iraq unless Congress expresses the clear will of the American people and votes yes or no on a declaration of war.

Oh I have been right along. I have gotten 4 of my brother to join Veterans for Hunter too. And he must have done very well tonight, he won hubby over!

I will agree with that sentiment - but I don't think Hunter is trying to copy Reagan. I think Duncan Hunter is sincere in his beliefs, I mean that he is a lot like Reagan because they both believed a lot of the same things.

YES! He could have over spoken his time on several questions, though, like Romney and McCain did repeatedly. But statesmen are rarely bully boys. McCain clearly is a streetwise bully, and Romney wraps his bullyism up in the prettiest package he can manage. Brown eye shadow? Come on. I got a kick out of Giuliani in the aftermath interview. He said he sometimes agrees with Mayor Giuliani. LOL!
Though Blitzer gave most of the questions in the first hour to Gilmore, Huckabee, Paul and Brownback, none of whom stand a chance to move up, once again, Duncan Hunter sparkled with only four direct questions. I missed his aftermath interview. Did they give him one?
I thought Huckabee and Tancredo made a good showing.

Ron Paul was talking about oil because he was makign the point that we wouldn’t be involved in the Middle East AT ALL if it weren’t for oil; that is a generally-acknowledged point that I don’t think anybody disputes.
Ron Paul has voted against every single education spending bill in Congress, period. He said he would end the Dept. of Education. The point he was making on education was in regards to the economic cost of the war on the economy in general. With out hundreds of billions of dollars being destroyed every year, Americans could spend more money on education and medical care PERSONALLY.

No, it wasn't. Clearly, CNN gave the majority of the time to John McCain. It was the John McCain show practically. His answer to the sister of the dead soldier could be a commercial.
Two highlights:
1)I especially found it curious when after everyone else had berated the immigration bill, McCain concedes, "It's not the immmigration bill that I would have written." What? Then why are you demanding we all support it and it be passed?
2)The moment when the lightning struck while Rudy discussed abortion was also priceless.
Sometimes life isn’t fair....
Fred Thompson is #1 because of name recognition, because he is an actor.
But having said that, Fred is my 2nd favorite (maybe tied with Huckabee).

Rudy did the same thing...like he felt he was OWED extra time.
Hunter may speak with pride of his son serving his 3rd tour in Iraq, but did Hunter serve with pride in VietName? Hmmm?
Who on the stage tonight, served in the military besides mccain and gilmore? In time of war I’d feel a lot safer with a military may who works with the Generals in charge.
