OK, so where do we send the checks? I read somewhere he starts accepting contributions to his exploratory committee today.

It’ll be interesting to see how many Hollyweird closet conservatives will be willing to out themselves to support Thompson’s run.

I heard on the radio this morning from those attending the Saturday’s King County Republican covention (greater Seattle area), that in a straw poll conducted at the convention, Fred had 89, his closest opponent had 39, which I believe was Romney.

So here are a couple questions for whoever knows:

1. What is the maximum contribution a citizen can make to a candidate?
2. Is the maximum contribution per year (calendar? fiscal?) or per election?

*snort* The minute Fred announces, his campaign is going to be floating in small denomination checks from folks who have been sitting out here not liking the major candidates much, and seeing in Fred all that is missing in the others. The buzz from those folks will help bring in many more small donations.

He doesn't have to worry about the big money, it will be there for him.

Its interesting to watch political pundits try to apply ‘normal’ political acts to this very new scenario.

Thompson doesn’t have to hurry. The DNC and the RNC have made a big mistake starting this stuff way way too early.

I find it hilarious that some so called ‘experts’ are saying ‘if Thompson doesn’t hurry, the money will be gone’....ROTFLMAO!

Riiiight. So then, does that mean in the final stages of any of the past six Presidential elections there has been a ‘shortage’ of money?

Of course not.

The talking heads are demonstraing why they are just ‘talking heads’ folks.

There is a lot of projection going on with Thompson. The enthusiasm for him derives from who he is, rather than anything he has done, or is doing. To win the nomination he will need perform. He will need raise funds, organize, travel, work. He hasn't performed yet, nor did he in eight years in the Senate. We'll see.

I support Romney, which means that I have to endure flip-flop taunts, but no need to doubt his drive, determination and capability.
