Simple and to the point -- not a 1,000 page document being debated, but today was the first day when I heard about this when going to Sen Inhofe's site for something else.
Why wasn't this bill any good?
Re-elect Jim Inofe to the US Senate!

I’ve been trying to get people to pay attention to the legislation, but some were too busy pissing and moaning at each other that what the White House had was the BEST!

Why wasn't this bill any good? Because it's not a complete sellout to businesses who employ cheap illegal foreigners and to La Raza.
Businesses who employ dirt-cheap illegals have an unfair advantage over law-abiding businesses, and are able to pass on much of the hidden costs of the illegals, like healthcare and high crime rates, on to taxpayers.

He missed one:
* Begin immediate depotation of illegal immigrants.

I have not seen or read the 1,000 page doc., but I like the idea of basically burning the whole thing in a garbage can and getting back to basics that are simple straightforward, can and will be enforced, that does not set out to punch U.S citizens in the schnoz. If this bill does that, I am all for it.

Inhofes ENFORCE - Engaging the Nation to Fight for Our Right to Control Entry -Act (S.1269)
Love the name!
Inhofe and Coburn ... you've got to love being in Oklahoma. Not like Georgia where we've got Chambliss and Isakson posing for pictures on the front page of the papers with Ted Kennedy the day after they cooked up this G'awful mess of an "immigration bill."

· Makes unlawful-presence in the United States a felony.
· Eliminates the practice of granting automatic U.S. citizenship to children born to illegal immigrants in an effort to reduce anchor babies.
· Establishes penalties for most flagrant employer tax violationsi.e. if an employer willfully files incorrect tax returns, they will be assessed the maximum penalties available.
· Makes it illegal to operate day laborer centers for illegal aliens and to give them unemployment assistance.
· Eliminates in-state tuition benefits for illegal aliens.
Well, there goes half of Austin’s population. I like this.

I don’t want to sound snippy, but weren’t you banned or wanted to be banned for supporting Rudy?

One element of the bill will, I believe, require an Amendment to the Constitution.

Lindsey “the punk” Graham and Queeg McCain asked for an alternative and here it is. Now they can put their money where their big mouths are.

As far as my understanding goes, this sounds excellent to me. It sure beats Bushes’ clap trap. Lets round em up and head em out. Won’t take a few days, or months or years but it CAN be done if we can just find some more men with character to implement it. That will be harder than the doin’.

Include building the fence, and I am sure Duncan Hunter would be the first Congressman to sign on to Inhofe’s bill.
If he see this through, Senator Inhofe definitely has a future.
