A former president of the Virginia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union pleaded guilty Friday to federal child pornography charges.
51-year-old Charles Rust-Tierney entered his plea to one count of receipt of child pornography in US District Court in Alexandria. He had been indicted last month on one count each of receipt and possession of child pornography.
Prosecutors say from March 2005 until October 2006, Rust-Tierney bought at least five subscriptions to child pornography Web sites and downloaded other illegal materials offered at additional cost.
Rust-Tierney, who also coached Little League baseball in Arlington, has been in jail since his arrest in February.
The charge carries a mandatory minimum of five years in prison.
Prosecutors said they would not seek more than eight years and one month, which is in line with sentencing guidelines.

Yes, I am asking in general.
This story is right under the one about DiFi resigning her defense contract procurement committee post for conflict of interest.
Oh, wait...
Betting that some woman somewhere sues to get her name away from his hyphen.
That struck me as being funny too. Rush always said, "Never trust a woman with a hyphenated name." I guess that applies to men too now.
We are on a very slippery slope when simply looking at illegal activity will get you serious jail time.
As far as we know, this guy didn't touch a kid, molest a kid, take a picture of a kid. He did nothing illegal except look at and pay for vile, disgusting, sick material
Bear in mind, this POS ACLU scumbag needs help if he gets his jollies by watching adults sexual abusing a 4 year old.
He needs to be institutionalized
In other countries possessing a Bible will get you jail time, I'm not making a moral equivalence between an Islamic tyrannical regimen and a sick pervert, but there is a law of unintended consequences
Should you be arrested for downloading a picture of a gun with no serial number? Should I be arrested for viewing and downloading your revenge fantasy about getting a gun and filing off the serial number?
if he had been allowed to become a Boy Scout leader he wouldn't have had to keep all of that violent kiddie porn on his computer
< / sarcasm>
.
Is anyone surprised this jerk was associated with the ACLU?
I'm glad you said you aren't interested in seeing the fantasy child porn.
People (not you) who actually download "fantasy" child porn and say no one is harmed by what they do, seem "out of touch with reality," in more ways than one.
They (not you) also seem sanctimonius, and blindly optimistic to me.
They (not you) seem very much like liberals.
It would be interesting to know what happened to the other evil scumbags who provided all the other links in this chain of events
The evil people in the porn
The people who develop the porn material
The Internet service provider who let them download the material
The institute that handles the money transaction
My guess is nothing
Great minds think alike!! Hyphenated names are soooo feminazi-ish.
The media are going soft on this ACLU guy because they like having the ACLU around; the media are contraversialists, and the ACLU are a controversialist’s contraversialist, to say the least. As long as the ACLU is there to disturb and alarm the advocates of civilization, the media have an unending stream of automatic controversies to write stories about.
thanks for the cartoon post...
it says it all about the one ethic the MSM will have in it’s death-grip:
The Double Standard
Yep. Wimpy male is what I was going to say.
Is it any surprise that given jerks like this in the ACLU that they are such a twisted organization?
I can't remember the exact phrase, but NAMBLA immediately came to mind.
I am not surprised. Perverts get law degrees in order to advocate for perversion.
