The first three, yes, but I have my doubts about Rexburg. A "Mormon" university isn't that likely to have many leftist students.
Rexburg is strongly conservative. According to unofficial vote totals for 2004, Bush received 10,693 votes and John Kerry received 826 votes.
IIRC, in terms of percentage, that was the widest margin Bush won in any county in the country.
“Gun-bearing IS a right, but not an inalienable one.”
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
The D of I refers to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as being *****AMONG***** our unalienable rights. It does NOT limit them to LLPOH.
The right to life is meaningless without the ability to protect one’s life. When bad guys have guns, therefore, the right to bear guns is not just one of the unalienable rights, it is first and foremost among them.
God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.
I don’t believe the U.S.Supreme Court would support your position anymore than they would now support the notion that a black man counts as 2/3 of a person for census purposes.
Fortunately for this nation we have had some Supreme Courts that were able to apply the law and not engage in social engineering.
For you to imagine that the U.S.Constitution doesn’t endorse the right to vote is assinine.
I live in the country, not the suburbs, and I don’t think that that you would prevail eventually unless you had tens of thousands in cash on hand for a good defense. I’ve seen too many cases of folks minding their own business, doing what they’ve done for years and getting cited for either carrying guns in their trucks or on their person. By definition, if someone else complains for no reason other than that they are uncomfortable, they can be cited for disorderly, brandishing, or terroristic threat. You don’t need intent, just to make someone claim they felt afraid or uncomfortable. Here in York county, you can not open carry except on your own property, and I will guarantee you that you will not make it two days before you are arrested, likely by a heavily armed SWAT team.
If the NRA were half as militant as the Anti-Christian Lawyers’ Union (ACLU), they’d put the boys up to it and fund their legal all the way to the top.
The place is a freaking disaster. At least the leftist zoo of Chapel Hill (next door) has the advantage of being in a county (orange) where there are some traditional folks with common sense. It is actually easier to get a cc permit over there than here. Durham is ALL about race, and the politics here are the worst of the 60s-70s race baiters.
We are an island of economic disinvestment in a rising sea of prosperity.
Good question. Free speech, for example, allows Nazis to march in Skokie. I think Nazis are assholes, but I believe that the same freedom to call them obnoxious, stupid decerebrates who are obvious refutations of the law of natural selection (the stupid do not die out quick) is the same freedom which gives them the right to demonstrate it to us all.
As for voting, I am not in favor of universal suffrage. There is nothing inherently constitutional about that. I think voting should be restricted to property owners, as per: many of our original laws. That said, it ain't gonna happen, and I think all eligible voters under our current laws should be allowed to vote.
How do you figure they are screwing up?
Your history is off center. In many instances after the founding of our nation, women were allowed to vote.
The idea that only property holders should be allowed the vote is non-sense. Citizenship and resident requirements should be the only requirement for voting in the United States but the idea that a person who rents or leases or even lives in a homeless shelter shouldn’t be able to vote runs counter to the American spirit.

“the idea that a person who rents or leases or even lives in a homeless shelter shouldnt be able to vote runs counter to the American spirit.”
Sorry, but it is your history that is off center.
There was a debate between those who wanted a representative republic and those, like Jefferson, who wanted a mobocracy. Early on, the republicans won, and the states limited the franchise accordingly.
Universal sufferage is not and never has been a legitimate component of the American Spirit. Even Jefferson drew the line at extending the vote to women and children as we have done today.
The only reason that Klintstone was elected twice is because people are allowed to vote who shouldn’t be.
“If open carry is such a good idea, why aren’t more people doing it?”
Because monolithic leftist control of the media for decades made us all feel as though we were the only one of our kind left, which sapped us of our will to oppose the leftist juggernaut.
It hasn’t been that long since Limbaugh busted the monopoly, after all, and most of us are still contaminated with leftism to some degree — such as is indicated by the assertion that bearing arms is “rude” — and we are not yet fighting back effectively on a broad front.
The last “peace” demonstration I stumbled on here in Boise, I was the only counterdemonstrator there.
Isn't that the defination of legal? Like it or not.
Adultery is legal. Picking your nose in public is legal. Farting is legal. Profanity is legal.
I supposed you think you shouldn't be criticized for doing these things because, hey, they're legal.
You, sir, are the reason we have so many damn laws. If simple courtesy and common sense won't stop you, then I guess we have to write another law.
Wrong.
If simple courtesy and common sense won't stop you, then I guess we have to write another law.
Spoken like a true statist! When in doubt legislate.
