llegal Immigration Foes Target Senate Offices By Nathan Burchfiel CNSNews.com Staff Writer June 01, 2007
(CNSNews.com) - Senators enjoying a week-long recess in their home states are being targeted by opponents of illegal immigration who are expected to deliver thousands of petition signatures opposing the Senate's comprehensive immigration reform proposals.
Volunteers with the conservative activist website Grassfire.org on Thursday began delivering petitions to senators' home offices opposing the immigration bill that the Senate will consider when it returns to session June 4.
The bill would give illegal immigrants a chance to remain in the United States by paying fines and undergoing background checks. It would also create a guest worker program and increase efforts to secure the U.S. border with Mexico.
Conservative opponents of the bill say it gives illegal immigrants "amnesty."
And as Cybercast News Service previously reported, the bill has also come under fire from liberals who believe its punishments are too harsh and that the proposal does not address the underlying factors that create incentives for immigrants to enter the U.S. illegally.
"Time is so short on the amnesty debate," Grassfire President Steve Elliott said in a release. "We needed to move quickly giving citizens an opportunity to sound off against the proposed amnesty legislation while also getting them personally involved."

Please read my retraction above. Apologies.
NP..I replied to a ping, not from your comment on the thread...I then saw your retraction. I often wish there were an “edit” function for my posts.
I read in a news report that both Isakson and Chambliss are now saying they might not vote for this bill unless...blah blah. I hear they were both boo’d of the stage at some convention they went to. Also, I can tell you Chambliss was just ripped apart when he was on talk radio morning show-I can’t remember if it was Boortz or Laura-but it was brutal.
Laugh it up boys....thanks for the Mexican burden you are handing us!
Kind of strange...maybe the good Sen. has been home long enough to understand he will lose the next election if he supports this bill, but hasn’t yet spoken with the DC office.
I wish there was an edit function, too!!
Bastards are working for foreign nationals. This is spinning out of control with traitors running the table.
IMO, the “in your face” arrogance being exhibited by the US Congress by their support of the current “amnesty bill” is reprehensible and further proof that the voters of this country need to vote them all out of office at the first opportunity. If not, America, as we know it, will be sold down the river and our children and grandchildren’s futures will be destroyed.
bump
I think you are absolutely correct. However, I do believe Bush himself is absolutely convinced he is doing the right thing-deluded I’d say. I believe the political operatives in the White House know better and are merely attempting to give their big donors cheap labor.
I would try to get hold of John Boehner’s office and ask if they had any suggestions on who to call, since your rep is already against it.
I thought they were ALL the lobbyists' best buds..;(
sadly true
