A recent proposal in Congress H.R. 1999, which was cosponsored in April by Reps. Ruben Hinojosa of Texas and Rick Renzi of Arizona would provide $10 million a year to a radical immigration group, the National Council of La Raza (meaning "the race").
It gets better. Have you heard of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, better known by its acronym MEChA? If you live in California, you have. This group's Web site states: "We are Chicanos and Chicanas of Aztlan reclaiming the land of out birth," which according to their revisionist history, includes areas of the Southwestern United States.
In its answer to critics' charges of support for this radical separatist group, La Raza explains that MEChA is really just a "student organization whose primary objectives are educational" and that their founding charter's radical goals don't matter. To make its pathetic case, the group cites, of all things, a passage from a Los Angeles Times article by one Gustavo Arellano that "few [MEChA] members take these dated relics of the 1960s seriously, if they even bothered to read them."
So we're supposed to take the word of an LA Times reporter as an answer to this serious charge? The first page of MEChA's Web site states in bold print "The following documents are essential to the philosophy of MEChA. Every MEChista should be familiar with them," One of these, the MEChA "Constitution" states in its preamble: "Chicano and Chicana students of Aztlan must take upon themselves the responsibilities to promote Chicanismo within the community, politicizing our Raza [race] with an emphasis on indigenous consciousness to continue the struggle for the self-determination of the Chicano people for the purpose of liberating Aztlan (emphasis mine)." Can't see how members would ignore that.
So much for moderation.

Sickens me to read that we taxpayers are giving $10million to a supremacist hate organization.
Well, only the hats. The condescending attitude is 100% real. ;)
As bad as that one is, you must not have seen this one from PBS:
The Clinton Administration's take on National Security?
A big frickin' joke...
MEChA came up with the Plan of Aztlan decades ago, and they still teach it and preach it. Google Plan de Aztlan to read it.
Note also that such illuminaries as Tony Villar (now remamed Antonio Villarigosa), the mayor of LA, were founding members of MEChA.
Google around, and you will certainly find that at the university level, the “Plan de Aztlan” is still very much their current goal.
This news is more than 20 years old, and yet the American people do NOTHING. As a people, do we lack the will to survive? Why do you suppose we allow this to continue in our country with our elected officials?
I'm having difficulty this morning finding just which station uses it.
When the album rock ("classic" and modern hard rock) station rudely changed formats to Spanish radio. Their slogan today is "Latino and Proud".
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!
Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.
Having grown up in So Cal in the late 60's early 70's in a heavily Hispanic area... yes I'm very familiar with La Raza & MEChA... had many go around with these a'ho up at Rio Hondo JC
La Raza is, for Hispanic, the Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton groups
MEChA is, for Hispanic, the Louis Farrakhan Nation of Islam group
“to promote Chicanismo within the community...”
****
I know some who work at KFC but they promote “Chicken-ismo”.
Welcome back, Travis!
Tony Villar? I knew he was in MechA, but didn’t know he was a founding member(or that he changed his name). Bustamante is another one. No wonder the rioters felt comfortable attacking police with rocks and urine filled bottles.
Some enlightening audio clips from the Reconquistas.

“...even though I’m saying this part serious, part joking, I think we are practicing La Reconquista in California....”
“Reconquista” refers to the re-taking of the U.S. Southwest that Mexico lost in the Mexican-American War. Some Mexicans refer to this territory as “Aztlan”.
Don't believe that for a second.
Years ago, those in California held a free election, Prop 187. It would have denied most all tax paid benefits to illegals. The Californians won this election overwhelmingly.
Then the state government, working directly in concert with the Federal government burned their ballots and declared their free election illegal. This was historic.
The corporations and business owners that wanted the dirt cheap labor were funding these politicians campaigns. They wanted nothing to do with this. The dirty corrupt fix was in.
Since then what has happened? Millions fled the state only to find the same thing happening where they fled to.
Unfortunately, the results of what occurred in California can now be seen just about everywhere in America now.
The politicians like then and now, are not representing the American people. They are only representing the business and corporation owners that demand low wage labor and higher profits, regardless of consequences.
Well then, what I posted was even more relevant.
After all, where do La Raza and MeCha get their power from?
I'll tell you. From more and more of their own people coming in. Take away these millions of illegals, and just where exactly would La Raza be?
Very depressing.
