Analysis of the GOP Bloggers Straw Poll
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ron Paul supporters like nobody less than Giuliani for whom most observers called that debate based on his response to Pauls blowback comments, even as the Ronbots contended that the very same exchange proved Ron Paul the obvious winner.
Unlike supporters of the realistic (and popular, arguably faddish and maybe unrealistic) candidates, Ron Paul supporters apparently would not vote for any other GOP candidate in the Republican primary though intriguingly, a minority would consider Tancredo.
I submit this as fair evidence that Ron Pauls online base of support is not drawn from actual Republican party primary voters. Activists for every other candidate have their fallbacks, nemeses and frenemies, but no other group is so far outside the mainstream as the activists for Ron Paul.
Maybe Ron Paul is the GOP vanguard. More likely, his support measures something besides the current Republican mood.

We go much longer without a legitimate small-government nominee and the squirrels will be voting from the rooftops.
Well, I would agree that he has a right to run in whatever party he wants. However, his supporters shouldn’t get upset when conservatives don’t want to nominate him as the Republican party’s candidate, when he’s clearly not a conservative.
You say he’s tough on immigration, then explain this quote of his:
“The greatest threat facing America today is not terrorism, or foreign economic competition, or illegal immigration. The greatest threat facing America today is the disastrous fiscal policies of our own government, marked by shameless deficit spending and Federal Reserve currency devaluation.”
Thanks for posting this. The analysis had more depth to it than other articles and commentaries that attempt to explain away Ron Paul’s growing popularity.
I am a Ron Paul supporter, and was arguing freedom, limited government, pro life, strong military, and anti socialism long before you ceased being an ache in your father's crotch and grew up to post slanderous lies on FR.
Idiots
His supporters are Republicans, Constitutionalists, Libertarians, conservative independents, and Democrats who are fed up with liberal interventionism at the expense of present and future American taxpayers.
That is true. Say what you will about Ron Paul, he takes his oath to protect and defend the Constitution more seriously than any other congress critter out there.
Love your handle. It is so.... appropriate.
Now THAT was cute! and dead on.
And you see this as evidence he is not tough on immigration????.......
interesting information, that blogger really broke it down and did some interesting analysis.
What slanderous lies?
Go to the DUmp and you will see DUmmies supporting him.
Check out sites like antiwar.com and lewrockwell.com and you will see Buchananites supporting him.
And moonbats like Alex Jones and other 9/11 nutcases support him as well.
See topic article.
Rockwell is a poser pretending to know what Von Mises believed.
Conservatives in ALL parties are getting sick and tired of DEM and GOP policies and their pretenses that they are somehow significantly in policy different from each other. Ron Paul stands for what the current GOP should be doing but isn't.
That says more about their stupidity than it does anything about Dr. Paul.
By all means - fear of the Hillary must prevent the opposition from selecting the right candidate. We must select and vote for one who can win. (/sarcasm)
