Bill Richardson strikes out on MTP?
letter to the editor
I just watched “Meet The Press” where the guest Bill Richardson, the Governor of New Mexico and Democrat Presidential candidate, told lie after lie and was shown to have flip-flopped on every issue he has ever talked about. The interview with Tim Russert was a disaster and could end his campaign. The humdinger was the Governors assertion that he was a life long Red Sox fan. Tim Russert then quoted from Richardson’s book that he said he was a Yankee fan all his life and his favorite player was Number 7, Mickey Mantle. A hat tip to Shakespeare, “ How do I love (lie to) thee; let me count the ways.”

So we annoit you king with unlimted power.
How do YOU fix the problem posed by Illegal Immigration?
Don’t limit it to “what is do able”. What is the best solution?
And because they don't pay taxes that gives them no stake in seeing that things run properly. In fact more than 50% of American's get "significant income" from the government, including all of those people who pay no income tax but instead receive welfare subsidy payments disguised as the "earned income tax credit."
Opps, missed ya. See post 441
In the Senate, probably, with little change even though some seem to be looking for a graceful exit after seeing the public reaction. But it will come to a final up or down vote. I give it 80-20 to pass.
In the House, maybe 50-50. But if it does pass, it will be in a somewhat different form. Too many Congresscritters are worried about their own personal public trough being yanked away from them next year by an infuriated public - and the public is really infuriated on this one! They may not then be able to reconcile a bill agreeable to both chambers.
Overall, I give it a 25% chance of passage in a form which will likely spark another Boston Tea Party. If it does pass, the GOP is cooked and maybe for good. So is America. You can rename it "Bosnia West" in 30 years.
I agree.
So, given that that it is clearly tantamount to political suicide for the GOP, are the supportive Republican legislators naive or “in” on the scam? And, if they’re in on it, why?
Sessions has been on the front line in the Senate opposing the worst provisions of this bill. He is carrying a lot of the water to change this Bill - but not being very successful. He's a good man. I wish we had 99 others just like him in the Senate.
I thought he just got booed at an event back home last week because he is NOT against the bill?
That was Saxby Chambliss and Lindsay Graham (McCain's lap dog). Take your pick. They both got booed at their respective State Party Conventions - much to their obvious surprise. I guess they didn't think the voters would pay attention.
But, we know he was a jet-setter under Clinton..so that couldnt be it, right??
LOL...Bushs fault? Even though Bush hasnt been the POTUS for 8 years??
I think he's talking about the previous governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson, 1995 to 2003. He's a Ron Paul Libertarian/Republican and is rumored to be on Paul's list of possible VP candidates. I bet that he did say "president" but the transcript will say "governor." After all, politicians get to "revise and extend" their remarks for the record... without objection.
IMHO, Sessions is the very best man (or woman) we have in either House. He's a national treasure.
I remember we talked about this some up in Boston, but can't remember if I told you what my father in law did that was similar his last couple of years with Union Carbide. He was specializing in shutting down their IT operations in facilities they were closing, moving the data off of the AS/400 and other local IT systems. He decided to take early retirement when the alternative was to go shut down the IT infrastructure at Bhopal, India, after the little cyanide incident. He's now living happily with my wife's step mother in her hometown in Belgium.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in about a week. I hope you can make time in your busy ambassador and presenter schedule for this humble little ol' conference attendee <g>.
Ok, Bigun. I apologize. I jumped in when I hadn’t read backwards as I should have.
Thanks for managing these great threads week after week!
:-)
Those 42 hostages would still be hanging from the ceiling ... or worse
Oh, no. Don't you know? They never would have been hanging them there in the first place except George W. Bush McChimpy Bushitler made the peace loving terrorists freedom fighters angry by invading their peaceful country (even though they are mostly from other countries). So if we surrender redeploy everything will be peace and love.
All they are saying is give peace a chance.
What a team. --Now, we must go forth and teach Senators. ;-)
However, on the DBM shows, this only applies to Dem politicians....
Come on, now, man! Seeing you is like THE highlight of the week!
We’ll be driving down on Friday. BTW, Miss Marple will be in on Thursday (the 7th). We all have to get together. I’m thinking dinner/party on Friday night (I have two wee ones with me and the wife, so no naked swinging from chandeliers or whatnot!)?
