Don’t panic. It could be nothing serious. A couple of months ago I went to the doctor with a rash that began on my abdomen then spread to my buttocks and thighs. Red in places, brown in others, slightly scaly but no real inflammation and no itching. It was diagnosed as “pityriasis.” The problem with internet info is it is too generic and no substitue for a real diagnosis, and can steer you away from the real illness. Anyway the PA at my dr.’s office said it would likely spread a little more (it did) and would clear up on its own in 2-4 months (it’s now gone after 2 months). There is a slight discoloration in the affected areas which is gradually fading. Weird experience, but totally harmless.

Tuesday is far away. If she develops fever or any other general symptom, or the patch becomes painful, or, or hot, do not wait for Tuesday. Go immediately to the ER

My brother is a dermatologist and has treated everything from leprosy to zits. I will ask, but he is not online at the moment.

When in doubt, come on out. She needs to be seen. It could be harmless or malignant. But you will never know until she gets examined.
