IIRC, aren't they technically not Catholic now anyway for supporting Abortion?
I’m with Il Papa.
no doubt
It is designed to be infuriating, I think, and it succeeds on that score magnificently.
After the statement by the 18 CINO Donks, your concern is understandable.
Frankly what a majority of Americans THINK about something the Catholic Church teaches and expects folks who CLAIM to be Catholic to abide by, is irrelevant. If a politician campaigns as a ‘faithful Catholic’, there better be some evidence that he or she isn’t disregarding the teachings of the Church in their private or professional lives.
Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
How many in the poll could define transubstatiation?
Nope, if they are baptized and confirmed as Catholics, they will remain so, no matter how far they stray. And the Church does not have to excommunicate them; they've done that themselves by their actions. The Pope has just been reminding them of that fact, and that, in good conscience, they should not present themselves for the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
This is Jesus Church they are questioning..”Peter upon this Rock I build MY church....not your pastors elders etc.. Christ Church..
People ultimately Have one Important decision and two Choices Heaven or Hell ... Poll That one!
That's like polling Atheists and being shocked to find that they don't believe in God.
Maybe they should have polled practicing catholics. The results would have been way different.
My entire parish (priests and nuns) favored Kerry in 2004, except for our Monsignor/Pastor who was independent (politically)but favored Bush because of his pro life stand. Our former monsignor/pastor was probably a liberal on most things but was conservative on abortion and wouldn’t support anyone who was pro abortion. He gave a sermon the sunday before the 2004 elections and said everyone who votes should vote their conscience and any Catholic who votes should vote their faith. Many in our parish were appalled he even mentioned the election and politics during MAss. We’re a liberal parish/area and a priest telling us that abortion is an important issue sent fireworks through the community. Many were astounded that it was mentioned in Church during Mass with the whole separation of Church and State (I’m serious).
He died a few months ago and the new pastor seems really liberal but the parish is liberal too so I’m sure that won’t happen again.
Catholics for the most part vote democrat. For some reason, many nuns and priests support dems who are everything opposite what the church teaches. I don’t understand it and the only reason I can come up with is ethnic.
I wonder if Rasmussen is falling upon such hard times that they have to accept this sort of “work”? Maybe it was an exercise for the polling interns to keep them out of the real pollster’s hair...
Poor work... much below Rasmussen’s norm. It obviously was designed to be contraversial no matter what the outcome. I used to think they had some credibility.
I always wonder about that. Why do non-Catholics even care what goes on in the Catholic Church?
I don’t care what goes on in the presbyterian, lutheran, episcapalian (sp), assemblies of God, Baptist, etc. churches. I figure it’s not really my business. Why the heck do non catholics care at all about what goes on in the catholic church?
Catholic Ping List
Please freepmail me if you want on/off this list
He can receive because not many would deny him. We have these stict rules but there’s always exceptions. Think Kennedy. If there were any political figure the catholic church should excommunicate, publicly and loudly, it’s Ted Kennedy and most of his family.
I never take communion at weddings or funerals in a church other than catholic or orthodox - it’s simple. I’m not supposed to - there’s a difference in what they believe concerning the body and blood. I respect their beliefs and hope they respect mine.
All these high profile politicians who claim to be catholic should be formally excommunicated.
Yep. The thinking behind it is that truth can be determined by a majority vote, which of course is absurd.
>>How many in the poll could define transubstatiation?<<
Or even SPELL it correctly?
The next poll question asked to 1000 adult Americans will be, “Do you agree with Jewish dietary regulations?”
