My entire parish (priests and nuns) favored Kerry in 2004, except for our Monsignor/Pastor who was independent (politically)but favored Bush because of his pro life stand. Our former monsignor/pastor was probably a liberal on most things but was conservative on abortion and wouldn’t support anyone who was pro abortion. He gave a sermon the sunday before the 2004 elections and said everyone who votes should vote their conscience and any Catholic who votes should vote their faith. Many in our parish were appalled he even mentioned the election and politics during MAss. We’re a liberal parish/area and a priest telling us that abortion is an important issue sent fireworks through the community. Many were astounded that it was mentioned in Church during Mass with the whole separation of Church and State (I’m serious).

He died a few months ago and the new pastor seems really liberal but the parish is liberal too so I’m sure that won’t happen again.

Catholics for the most part vote democrat. For some reason, many nuns and priests support dems who are everything opposite what the church teaches. I don’t understand it and the only reason I can come up with is ethnic.

The reason the “church” has become liberal is that the seminaries and convents have been infiltrated by left leaning homosexuals that propagate “social” issues rather that religious issues.

Maybe it has something to do with the huge effort the Soviets made to infiltrate seminaries. And with the takeover of seminaries by the lavendar mafia.

Actually, Dubya got a majority of Catholic voters in 2000 and 2004. The Catholic vote, once solidly Democrat, has been trending slowly in a Republican direction for several generations.

No, it’s the heritage of the Kumbayah Church, handed down from the most self-important decade(the 60s)by the most self-important people(the baby boomers)ever.

"Catholics for the most part vote democrat."

Where did you get that poll? I've been Catholic -- some say catholic -- all my life. I have never voted a democratic -- or is it a Democratic -- ticket.

Thanks, Cook, for the ping!
