CONCORD, N.H. — The family of Army Spc. Justin Rollins finally got to hold one of the last things he held.
A female puppy the 22-year-old nuzzled the night before his death in a roadside bombing in Iraq frolicked Friday in New Hampshire, completing a nearly 6,000-mile journey that Rollins' family and girlfriend began pushing for after seeing photos of him with a newborn litter.
"It was the last bit of happiness Justin had," said Rollins' girlfriend, Brittney Murray.

What a touching story - and I’m not even a big dog-lover.
Prayers for him and his family. Sometimes I think all of our really good guys are getting taken away from us. And nobody here appreciates it.
A sweet ending to such a sad story.

Rep. Paul Hodes is an anti-war Democrat.
He represents my Congressional district here in NH.
I am certain sure that he and his fellow travellers in the TreasoncRAT party will use this soldier’s death and this heartwarming story to advance their treacherous anti-military agenda.
Hurrah!
that may be, but he did the right thing here.
A wonderful Memorial Day weekend tribute.
But how will your lousy representative spin soldiers as “terrorists” when he sees a photo of this fine hero snuggling with a pup?
Saturday morning tears!
Thanks, HairOfTheDog, for this bittersweet story.
May “Hero” bring some joy to Justin’s family and to his fiancee.

Didn’t you know?
Dogs are VERY offensive to the supplicants of the satanic moon god and his pedophile pirate polygamist “prophet”.
I’m sure the TreasoncRATs will find a way to spin this against the military.
And I’m sure they’ll be able to find someone in this brave soldier’s circle of family or friends to decry his sacrifice, claiming that he wasted his life serving the delusions of the hated Bush.
My hat’s off to them. I well recall that soldiers in the First Gulf War adopted dogs but were forced to abandon them because of the red tape.
An enterprising somebody might make a fortune marketing middle eastern pariah dogs (properly selected) they tend to be extremely tough, healthy, adaptable and resistant to parasites—having been ruthlessly self-selected over millenia for those qualities.
I’m betting Israel’s official breed the Canaan Dog (created by Dr. Rudolphina Menzel in the forties for the Haganah—precursor to the IDF)has gotten overbred since first being imported here in 1965.
Welcome Hero!
You met the Brave, who died so even you could be free.
Have a long, and loving life.
Please see post number 32.
The first picture brought tears to my eyes.
This is so sad. I had rocks in my throat all weekend watching the tributes to our troops.
Seeing as how Jason laid down his life for strangers like me, I believe his happiness has just begun and will last forever. If I measure up I will be able to thank him personally for his sacrifice.
Opps, should have spelled it, Rainbow Bridge.
