Finally, Ted Kennedy has met an invasion he can support: Mexicos invasion of the U.S. Instead of getting rid of illegal aliens, Kennedy says lets get rid of the U.S. Which is what the new immigration bill validating Mexicos transfer of a giant chunk of Mexico to the U.S. promises it wont do. We already know how well that border fence is coming along.
The Secure Fence Act got enacted 6 months ago and already two miles of it are complete just 698 more to go! At its current blistering pace of 4 miles per year, the 700-mile fence for the 2,000-mile border would be ready in only over 175 years or just 50 immigration reform bills from now. So the new immigration reform bill reforms the Secure Fence reform law so that only half the fence need be up before the cheap labor lobby stuff in the bill kicks in. This is called an enforcement benchmark.
According to the Kennedy plan, if you want to solve the illegal alien problem, you get to the root cause: Illegal border crossing. You simply legalize it voila! No illegal aliens. In other words, you legalize illegals, put em on the gravy train, dont call it amnesty, dont collect back taxes owed on moolah racked up while here illegally, ignore the laws on the books, promise to really, really promise to really enforce the new laws this time, tell the illegals youre sorry for knowingly luring them here by being so rich, pay the invaders $2.5 trillion in reparations for invading us, and after all this, amazingly the illegals will show new-found respect for all of our laws!
The amnesty cut-off date in the bill is January 1, 2007. Which means those who arrived here after January 1 will be dealt with in the next non-amnesty amnesty bill.
But! It appears the Kennedy reform plan is now dead in the water. Out of force of habit, Kennedy insists he just missed the turn and he wasnt drunk.
Poll after poll after poll shows Americans (1) arent cool with giving permanent legal status to people who are here because they broke our laws; (2) prefer sealing the border and enforcement first; (3) want the feds to go medieval on businesses that knowingly hire illegals; (4) oppose Kennedys insane idea of letting illegal aliens jump ahead of legal immigrants waiting in line and calling this fairness. All of which shows how out of touch Americans are with Ted Kennedy.
If the govmint did No. 3 started fining employers who hire illegals $100,000 per head plus prison time it wouldnt need to round em up. If it did No. 2, and avoided doing No. 1, you wouldnt have 12-20 million illegals here. The 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli Immigration Reform-To-End-All-Immigration-Reform bill promised the Gipper that if he signed on to it, it would (1) mandate penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegals; (2) secure the border by intensifying Border Patrol activities; (3) be the last amnesty bill because this one would fix the problem once and for all. So, under the new and improved system, giving 3 million illegal aliens amnesty meant we ended up with 12 million new illegals. For each illegal given amnesty, you got four new ones. The govmint was terrific at handing out amnesty, but not quite so with the sealing-the-border/employer sanctions part of the bargain.
Same deal with the US-VISIT system, remember that? Its an electronic airport and border enforcement tool to capture point-of-entry-and-exit info on visitors. The system has spent the last 11 years not being built after being mandated by law in 96. Same deal with the 700-mile border fence. Bush signs the fence into law, barely two miles are up half a year later. Thats what happens when youve got a government so dysfunctionally bureaucratic that it was still mailing out student visas to Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi exactly six months AFTER they flew planes into the WTC. If the bureaucrats can screw that up, Im sure theyll do swimmingly processing 12 million newly legalized illegals.
On paper, Reagan thought he was getting a good deal. On paper, Bush genuinely thinks hes getting a good deal. But its only on paper because feeding an already bloated bureaucracy a monstrosity like this is like feeding Michael Moore another hamburger.
On paper, the 326-page bill looks fabulous in my bathroom, next to the toilet. I promise Sheryl Crowe to use just one page at a time.
Anyway, thats...
My Two Cents...

I just had to share this. My 5 year old son’s kindergarden class had a multicultural feast a few days ago. During the oral part of the presentation, each child was to tell at least 3 things about their culture.
There were reports from Japan, Guam, Jamaca, Honduras as well as the United States. One particularly shy little girl was telling about her American roots and was having a bit of trouble remembering all three things.
Her teacher, trying to help, asked a few leading questions like “What kind of clothes do we wear here, what kind of food do we eat”. Then she asked “What do kids like to do for fun here?”. To which the girl replied, “Have fiestas!!!!” All parents in the room cracked up laughing. I though to myself, she just spoke volumes.
Out of the mouth of babes.

Hi!
Been working third shift.
Always a fun proposition I am told.
*Dies in chair*
So I drop by when I can.
Usually that means I lurk on most threads with a burst of posts here and there.
The threads I lurk on, oddly, suffer tremendous amounts of typos.
Some say that I have true talent with inducing typos.

No, that wasn’t a line in the movie, it was me answering you that the mouse in the burrito was cute in response to your calling it gross. Sorry to have confused you.
