Pez
- In 1927, Eduard Haas, an Austrian candy executive, developed a small candy mint which he called PEZ (short for pfefferminz, the German word for peppermint). The peppermint candies were stored in a small tin and sold fairly well for more than 20 years. Initially it was marketed as a tasty alternative to cigarettes for adults attempting to quit smoking.
In an effort to boost sales and develop a brand identity for the PEZ mints, the first pez dispensers were introduced in 1948. The original dispensers did not have the trademark heads, which were introduced four years later. These dispensers had cartoon heads and became very popular with children who traded them back and forth. These early dispensers are now very much in demand and are valued treasures among collectors.
More than 3 billion PEZ candies are consumed each year and is sold in more than 60 countries around the world but the candies have become almost a secondary item serving as an accessory for the dispensers of which more than 300 have been issued.

In 1929, the stock market crashed, the great depression started. and the frivolity and recklessness of flappers came to an end.

Prayer: Lord, You command the symphony of creation. The stars twinkle, the oceans swell, and the birds on the mountains sing — all at Your bidding. Nothing is hidden from Your sight, and nothing is beyond Your reach.
I lift up the good men and women of Baghdad who desire to lead their nation and their people into a new era of peace and prosperity. The challenges before them are great, but nothing is beyond Your reach. I am asking, Lord, for Your divine help and divine counsel to lead them through the obstacles they are facing.
Lord, we acknowledge that human skill and wisdom is not enough. These leaders need Your divine hand of guidance. I ask that You lead them with Your eye upon them. Speak to them about which way to turn and which choices to choose. I ask for dreams and angelic visitations to bring enlightenment, and equip them with wisdom and skills of leadership that can only be attributed to You. In Jesus name, amen.

Connie, anybody that has a yorkie is my friend for life. An aquaintence told me several months ago that yorkies are nothing short of ‘attention Wh*res’. Well, he might be right, but even though my dog’s a yorkie, she’s no (ahem).
And, he became an ‘UN’aquaintence pretty quick. :)
