I agree. And I think this child is lucky to have a wonderful grandpa. At least he has that.

Hi sofaman
I echo your words whilst not agreeing with her lifestyle I can join in congratulation the VP and his wife on the birth of their 6th grandchild. 3 girls and 3 boys.

What commitment? Do you mean the sexual commitment?
You keep saying "sexual commitment." What in the world does that even mean? Are you saying that Mary Cheney and her partner have stayed together because they couldn't find anyone else to have sex with?

You have no evidence that either of them do not like men. In fact given that Mary has a very close relationship with her father often going hunting with him and his friends again mainly male I would hotly dispute that statement. I am hetrosexual but I do not dislike women.

My concern.....very simply..these two women don't like men...right.They have a boy baby....who grows to a young man How do they explain their negativity to men--to him... ..won't this affect him?...How can it not.I saw the pics of the vice president & wife. Something is wrong. The Cheney's are wonderful people BUT this can NOT be viewed as that happy of event. This is NOT normal. This boy is not going to live in a normal houshold. Oh sure, it could be worse but how many would choose this over a normal household. I'd say .00001%.

I respect any long term, loving relationship, which it appears this is. Equating this relationship to child molestation does not speak well for your integrity.
While it doesn't rise to the level of molestation, I can assure you that young Samuel Cheney is already suffering from child abuse.
It is abuse, period, to knowingly and willingly raise a child without a father. How Cheney and Bush can let this slide without some kind of comment is beyond me.
Of course I think its great that another life has been brought into the world, but honestly -- this entire situation is nothing but a tradgdey. I weep for this poor kid.

The kid going to grow up with no dad and you have no problem with such a selfish act?Yes, it is a sin, but so is a creep going around spreading his seed, or abusing his wife and children, or sitting at a bar drinking his rent.
A good solid family is preferable to this, but this is preferable to a screwed up "straight" family.

According to the very latest studies, lesbians have significantly fewer abortions than heterosexual women. So, that should count for something. LOL! I can't believe you said that. That's because lesbian women don't get pregnant accidentally, so when they do it's because the want that baby. Obviously, they wouldn't have an abortion then. ;o)

Despite what you may think, while all manhaters are lesbians, not all lesbians are manhaters. Back in college, I had a good friend of who was a lesbian, and never, at any moment, felt any hate from her part towards me. To the contrary, she was a very sweet person and a very friendly girl, towards both men and women.
And moving on to something else, I deplore the tone this thread has taken. Just shameful.

I couldn’t recall her last name. I said nothing about Mary Kay cosmetics. Nice diversion attempt. But Mary Kay LeTourneau is a lady and who are you to judge her morality? She has sustained a lengthy relationship. Why are you not impressed?

You keep saying "sexual commitment." What in the world does that even mean? Are you saying that Mary Cheney and her partner have stayed together because they couldn't find anyone else to have sex with?It is obvious what it means; and no, a "commitment" doesn't mean they can't. Clearly it means they won't. My point is, the praise they received for their "long-term commitment" seems to be tied to the fact that they have sex together. We aren't talking about non-sexual roommates. And we aren't talking about long-term friendships. So why should they gain "respect" just because they have had homosexual sex together for a long time?

“That’s the problem. He will grow up without a role model for a boy—his dad.
I hope they send him to a private school or some place where he will have male role models. I wish him well, in any case—he will have a tough time, I’m afraid.”
Maybe it’s just me but I think that Vice President Dick Cheney will be a wonderful role model for this boy. It was President Bush who said Mary will be a loving soul to her child...I think Mary and Heather and Mary’s parents and extended families will be good role models for Samuel David.
