as our world turns left...
this is something I would expect from the democrats.

***

Well...now we got the right and the left turning off the straight and narrow as fast as they can to please man instead of God ... How very offensive, extreme His straight and narrow is now to most.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

How about a committed slave or a committed abducted child. Shall we honor those relationships for their commitment?

These are two consenting adults who have committed 16 years to each other (and pledged more in light of the baby).

That's quite a relationship and your comparisons are disgusting.

My Dad was adopted so I don’t know what my genetic life will be like except through my Dad who is 60 right now to my 38. My kids (ages 9, 8, 5) will only have two generations of knowledge. It really did not hurt me that much. In fact, I never give it a second thought. Not what I would put under “Most importantly” in my book anyway. Don’t be so dramatic.

I am 'half' adopted. I never met my biological father. You are fortunate not to have any medical issues .... yet. I felt the same way until last month when I fell flat on my abdomen. Two days later, in great pain, I went to the outpatient clinic at a local hospital where they took a c/t scan, said I was fine but suffering from a bladder infection. They gave me antibiotics and pain killers, told me to call my own doctor for a follow up appointment and return to the hospital if the condition worsened. The following day, my docotr's nurse called to say my white blood cell count was off the scale and they feared it was kidney related. That night, the situationo worsened and I returned to the hospital. Another c/t scan with contrast indicated that one of my kidneys had a 'mass' on its side. The FIRST question asked was whether there was a history of kidney cancer in my family. (This runs in families) There is no history on my mother's side of the family but I have NO knowledge of my father's family. Next month, I am scheduled for surgery to remove the kidney.

I would hardly label this situation as 'dramatic'. It is life threatening.

Donor insemination does not screen for this condition!

More importantly, will the child ever have the opportunity to know what genetic diseases he inherited from his paternal genes?

Do you oppose adoption?

I am trying to establish the boundaries of your criteria. Originally it was merely a “long-term” relationship and I called you on that. Now you are amending your original criteria and adding two new criteria and at this point you have three as follows:

1. Long-term
2. Loving
3. Consenting Adults

Are there any additional qualifications you think should be added before you believe a relationship should be respected ?

Yes...I anticipated the thread would quickly deteriorate and unfortunately it did (with a few exceptions in which the family was given good wishes).

When someone says committed relationship, that means something different to you?

Yes, I was joking. But in other news, the rate of abortions for gay men is zero.

I am both adopted and an adoptive parent. See my post #106.

Lesbians are not known for their long relationships

Probably true, but I have a sister-in-law who has been in a relationship for over 40 years. Even stranger than that, they were both in the Air Force together. Both are in their 70s now.

Absolutely we may not agree with her lifestyle but this will be a much wanted and much loved child and from is publicly shown Mary is close to her sister and father so will grow up in a loving extended family atmosphere

Cheney is not against same-sex marriage. He has been quoted as saying that he disagrees with the prez. on this one, but the prez. is the prez.

As my family has never had much contact with other branches on either side I have really little idea apart from grandparents on my father’s side. To be honest I have never really given it much thought either.

The Roman Catholic may be right on a lot of things, but to claim it occupies the moral high ground, or that it alone is right is very arrogant. The Roman Catholic Church has a long history of corruption and heresy during some extended periods of time. That the RCC is the one true church cannot be supported by the Bible, the evidence, or history.

To claim that God actually chooses a Pope is no different tha Mormons claiming that their leader is a living prophet who speaks fopr God.
