“Then question the politics of it.
Not the highly personal aspects of it.”

It is all related. Many freepers are curious about the details of this new aspect of Lesbian activity (and activism) they have many questions.

Anyone who makes a relationship last that long deserves some respect for their commitment.

What commitment? Do you mean the sexual commitment? I know few people older that 16 who have NOT had a 16-year commitment to their family members. Congrats for that? Or does sex make the commitment more special? And if it does, what about a long-term sexual relationship between an adult and a child (at least initially)? How about that Mary Kay lady and her middle school student? Do you have respect for that as well?

That’s fine - I suspect others do.

In spite of the dysfunction?

How about a committed slave or a committed abducted child. Shall we honor those relationships for their commitment?

Personally, I don’t think commitment is a strong indicator of relationships that should be honored. It may be a component but its not primary.

He is probably going to be this major straight guy who ends up in a long term marriage with 16 kids like that one great family we just learned about this week (forgot name) because I highly doubt that he will be gay considering straight families end up raising the gay kids. Could not even begin to know why but them the fact folks. I look at my kids and just hope that they will be straight, but if they are not I want to be as understanding as Vice President Cheney was. Although he is a better person than I am I suppose. lol.

According to the very latest studies, lesbians have significantly fewer abortions than heterosexual women.

LOL!

(Please tell me you were joking when you wrote this. Please?)

How is this relevant to the politics?

It sounds like “nosy neighbor syndrome” to me... The fascination of the lives of people different from yourself.

On a social conservative site, the issues related to lesbians having babies is naturally of interest here.

I guess for some FReepers on here gay unions(gay marriage) is ok?

Not in my book it's not ok. I don't care who the GF is.

“According to the very latest studies, lesbians have significantly fewer abortions than heterosexual women. So, that should count for something.”

That is true, and Homosexual men have fewer children out of wedlock than normal men.

I respect any long term, loving relationship, which it appears this is. Equating this relationship to child molestation does not speak well for your integrity.

If there is an inherited medical problem, it can become extremely important to know the medical history of the whole family. Take Tony Snow, for instance. His mother (whom he knew) died of colon cancer at 38. This gave Tony the heads up to get checked earlier than normally recommended, and even so, he lost his colon to cancer.

That's the problem. He will grow up without a role model for a boy--his dad.

The grandpa will do in this case.
