Congratulations to the Vice President and his family!

Bless your heart. I couldn't agree more - thank you.

Some of the posts in this thread will make your stomach turn.

Their sexual commitment, or do you go around commending all long-term friendships? I've had some friends for 35 years or more.

Anyone who makes a relationship last that long deserves some respect for their commitment.

On a social conservative site, the issues related to lesbians having babies is naturally of interest here.

Then question the politics of it.
Not the highly personal aspects of it.

More importantly, will the child ever have the opportunity to know what genetic diseases he inherited from his paternal genes?

My Dad was adopted so I don’t know what my genetic life will be like except through my Dad who is 60 right now to my 38. My kids (ages 9, 8, 5) will only have two generations of knowledge. It really did not hurt me that much. In fact, I never give it a second thought. Not what I would put under “Most importantly” in my book anyway. Don’t be so dramatic.

And you have to reject morality to accept homosexual parents in the first place.

Yes exactly. So now we have the majority accepting that a child needs no moral instruction to have a proper upbringing. And George Washington type thinking is bigoted: "[A] good moral character is the first essential in a man... and your conduct here may stamp your character through life. It is therefore highly important that you should endeavor not only to be learned but virtuous." --George Washington

According to the very latest studies, lesbians have significantly fewer abortions than heterosexual women. So, that should count for something.

The criteria relationships which are commendable are those that last long?

Are you sure this is a valid criteria?

On a social conservative site

The mantra giving you cover?

That line is becoming a pass key for some bad behavior.

I would hold back on it if I were you - it gets used way too often.

No offense.

Already pulled.

In all seriousness, congrats to Ms. Cheney and her significant other, as well as to Lynn and Dick.

As we watch these issues of life follow the spiral down to the Inferno, is it not clear that only the Catholic Church is right in every instance? OK, I’m Catholic, but my brothers in Christ must see the leadership the Catholic provides in this area.

Yeah especially Cardinal Mahoney.
