McCain Praises Sen. Graham, Defends Immigration Bill
Campaigns & Elections Magazine ^ | May 23, 2007 | John Boyanoski

Republican presidential candidate John McCain came to the defense of one of his biggest allies Wednesday over the pending immigration vote in the U.S. Senate.

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has come under fire in the last week for his defense of an immigration compromise that provides amnesty for illegal aliens. It reached a peak when he was booed during the state Republican convention Saturday in Columbia. “I always think it is unfair when I hear Lindsey Graham is criticized,” McCain, R-Ariz., said during a conference call Wednesday.

Graham has been an ardent campaigner for McCain in South Carolina – appearing for his fellow senator at debates and straw polls in the last few months. Graham also supported McCain in 2000.

In return, McCain said he was proud of Graham Wednesday. However, McCain said he can understand why many Republicans and other citizens are skeptical about the proposed plan because past bills have not done what was promised. “We have to show them this is a workable, doable proposal,” McCain said.

It's hard to read John McCain - I can't decide:  is he Benedict Arnold or Captain Queeg?

No amnesty of any kind, for any reason. Anyone who broke the law coming here, must be punished and removed from the country. Secure the borders, evict teh illegals, THEN AND ONLY THEN do we discuss new rules around legal immigration.

And anyone who supports any form of amnesty for lawbreakers is wrong.

If he’s Queeg, then it looks like he’s determined to go down with the ship.

Not that I’m complaining.

He’s a strange person that’s for sure and not really someone we want as the leader of the free world. He’s too quick tempered.

McCain and Graham are clear examples of what’s wrong with the GOP. They think they can insult us and we’ll still blindly vote for them.

Graham: “Praise to Thee, King O’Sobe”

McLame: “Thank you, Servant”

Lindsey Graham, traitor.

“Apparently, at an awards dinner sponsored by “La Raza”, Lindsay Graham commented on the activists lining up against the immigration bill. He said, “We’re gonna tell the bigots to shut up...”

McCain is attracted to losers, like Graham and Mikey DeWine here in Ohio.

I am getting some satisfaction watching his campaign implode by his own hand, however...(chuckle)

John McCain is a world class hypocrite. He didn’t even have the guts to vote for the bill yesterday.

The elephant in the china shop is the “anchor babies” nothing really matters as long as illegals can produce US citizens. They can load you up with taxes just by breeding. We really are not going to get anywhere until that is changed.

“We have to show them this is a workable, doable proposal,” McCain said.

I have tried to read the proposal. It is legal babble gobbly goop and is virtually impossible to understand and predict unintended, or intended, consequences. I guarantee that McCain himself does not understand the implications of this steaming pile.

This “Bigot” here tells Lindsay to kiss my @ss.

If wanting to hold the line on welfare recipients who feel entitled to my checkbook, then yes, I'm a bigot!
