Key California Republican Group Endorses Ron Paul
Ron Paul 2008 ^ | 05/21/2007

Posted on 05/22/2007 4:15:10 PM PDT by NapkinUser

ARLINGTON, VA – The United Republicans of California (UROC) have unanimously endorsed Congressman Ron Paul for president of the United States. UROC, formed in 1963 to support Barry Goldwater, represents the traditional conservative wing of the California Republican Party.

“The unanimous endorsement from the United Republicans of California proves what the campaign has been saying all along,” said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Ron Paul is the only true conservative and real Republican in the race.”

In their official statement endorsing Dr. Paul, UROC called him “the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital” and recognized that:

Ron Paul’s voting record demonstrates that he has voted against:

· raising taxes;
· unbalanced budgets;
· a federal restriction on gun ownership;
· raising congressional pay; or
· increasing the power of the executive branch.

His voting record demonstrates further that he voted against:

· the USA Patriot Act;
· regulating the Internet; and
· the war in Iraq.

Dr. Paul is the only candidate with a record that matches the UROC’s platform.

“Whether the issue is life, the Second Amendment, foreign policy, spending or taxes, Ron Paul is the only traditional conservative candidate,” continued Snyder. “Traditional conservatives across the country should support Ron Paul for president.”

Such ideas, said one newspaper reporter, make me a maverick who will never go far because he won’t go along to get along. Darn right! What does “go far” mean? Get a big government job? To heck with that. And I won’t sell my vote for pork either. When I walked through the U.S. Capitol this morning, I got angry. The building is filled with statues and painting of Jefferson, Madison, and the other Founders. Those great men sacrificed everything to give us a free country, and a Constitution to keep it that way. When I was first elected, I placed my hand on the Bible and swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. That’s exactly what I’m fighting for. But such ideas drive the liberals crazy. That’s why I badly need your help. I’ve been targeted nationally for defeat. The Democrats, the AFL-CIO, the teachers union, big business PACs, the trial lawyers, the big bankers, the foreign-aid lobbyists, the big media, and the establishment Republicans want to dance on my political grave. The Fed, the Education Department, and the UN are anxious to join in. They can’t stand even one person telling the truth. And they’re terrified when that truth gains the people’s support.

Ron Paul

My double yawn was not necessarily for content, but the length of your post. Not enough time in the day, KDD. A few less words would render a point less dull.

Hunter is among the worst offenders of pork-barrel spending in Congress.

No, he isn't. Stop promoting that line of propaganda. I think you've been shown this before. And any so called 'pork' was to build up the military.

Citizens against government waste has never listed Duncan Hunter as a 'porker'.

Here's a list since 2001. Tommy Thompson is on there along with a bunch of republicans, but NO DUNCAN HUNTER. In fact they rate him 79%, which is very taxpayer friendly. So stop with this.

Duncan Hunter intends to cut many superfluous government agencies - long overdue! - plus delegate education and other departments to the state and local level. That, alone, should cut government spending big time

"Intends to" is what the GOP has told us for years. We do know one thing for certain: Hunter supported the medicare expansion, which dwarfs even the cuts he "intends" to make.

Just about all republicans voted for the medicare reform and it might not have been bad until it was screwed up by the administration.

Hunter has done a lot to try to control medicare spending to the point of ticking of the democrats!

Voted YES on denying non-emergency treatment for lack of Medicare co-pay. ..... Duncan Hunter is a Moderate Conservative. Click here for explanation of ...

Supporting the Medicare fiasco is a major negative, and has nothing to do with the military.

I realize Bush obviously supported it too, and I’ve pointed out multiple times that he was wrong in that.

See post 88.

So you have a candidate with absolutely nothing you can find to complain about? Sorry, Jesus Christ isn’t running.

I know.. pathetic, isn't it?

and it might not have been bad until it was screwed up by the administration.

All non politicians, Heritage, Cato, National Review, knew it was a boondoggle from the start.

That hunter has otherwise done some good things on spending doesn't excuse his vote on medicare.

That being said, with specific, concrete proposals for cutting spending that he can be held to, I would vote for him.

Not in the least. I support Fred Thompson and am aware of his shortcomings.

I like Hunter. But to pretend he’s the best fiscal conservative on the planet is false.

Stop trying to use logic or make sense. This is an emotional issue and you are not supposed to think so much. ;-)

I have, for more than two decades, been severely critical of our post-World War II foreign policy. I have perceived it to be not in our best interest and have believed that it presented a serious danger to our security.

So Paul sums up his position here... "severely critical of our post-World War II foreign policy"..

so from the start, not a cold warrior, by any mean ..

And not a Goldwater, Buchanan or Buckley conservative

"for more then two decades" (as of 2002)

Then not a Reagan Republican either... but more in-line with Jimmy Carter/ Norm Chomsky

Paul, on this part of his foreign policy is a straight classical Libertarian party thinking...the only thing Paul in not Libertarian on (foreign policy wise)is "free""(unchecked) trade/open"(unchecked) borders

Classical Libertarian thinking/theory is "free"(unchecked)trade/open(unchecked)borders

I never pretended or implied that he's the best fiscal conservative, there you go lying again. But he beats hell out of Thompson. If the only way you can boost Fred is to lie about Hunter (post 76), what can I say?

I’ve posted Fred’s attributes a thousand times over. I’m not going to do it again.

I’m not trying to lie here, and apologize if I misunderstood what you’re implying.

As I said, I have nothing against Duncan Hunter, but the man has NO chance. I’d like to see him in a House leadership position for a while (like minority/majority leader level) first.
