Another piece pointing out the obvious.
I saw a couple of Hollywood types making a very earnest pitch on a TV commercial yesteday to raise money to buy mosquito nets for Third World children to save them from malaria. I think the enviro-weenies are beginning to see the backlash coming and want to be seen doing something... anything... to look like they are getting out in front on this issue.
The fact that all this malaria is completely attributable to the non-sensical elimination of DDT completely escapes them.

Another typical liberal environmental boondoggle. Ever notice how things never improve after they convince everyone to do their bidding? The reason is, what we are forced to do to appease them has no effect on the non problems they wring their hands about. In this case, they truly did damage, but will never be held accountable.

That’s liberals. But they always meeeeeeeean so well. And of course, as we all know, being a liberal means never having to say you’re sorry.

According to the Washington Post, there are "numerous" abortions every year too.
And they don't care, since most of them (by far) are just expendable brown people.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for 'our own good' will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C. According to these CDC figures, malaria kills more than 800,000 children under age five every year. They would never say so openly, but the population controllers and the greenies probably think this is a good thing. Fewer third worlders to screw up the environment and increase global warming.

Hate to rain on anybody’s parade, but the screen door and screened windows was effectively controlling Malaria in the southern US before DDT came along. Doesn’t mean I’m against the judicious use of DDT in Africa or elsewhere.

Eliminating DDT didn’t save the birds either.
New influx of mosquito's carrying west nile and ravaging the bird population, especially raptors.

DDT is our friend.
DDT for insect control, hexachlorophene for antibacterial/antifungal soaps that almost got rid of ringworm infections. They’re even trying to get rid of childhood immunizations. The greenies and the lawyers have gotten rid of everything that made us healthier as a species.

Some estimates put the number of malaria deaths as high as 2,000,000 people every year. Whether they were over the age of five or under it makes no difference. It’s been going on for 30 years.

It's funny that you should post this article today because I just mentioned this very topic today in my BIO 110 class. It was the first lecture when I discuss the scientific method and I always caution them to be careful about believing the some of the various claims that are made in the name of science. For example, what qualifications does Leonardo De Caprio have that would enable him to make such pronouncements about the environment?
I also mentioned Rachel Carson as an example in which there were serious unintended consequences from a decision based on emotion and not real scientific evidence. Many thousands of lives lost due to malaria could have been saved if the decision to ban DDT had not been made.
