House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has voiced criticism of the Senate and White Houses immigration agreement, saying the temporary worker program would "disrupt families.
"I have serious objections to the point system that is in the bill now, the California Democrat said on ABCs "This Week on Sunday.
"Yes, we should deal with the backlog [of workers seeking citizenship]. I completely agree with that. But the family unification principles, which had been fundamental to American immigration, are disrupted by what is in there now.
Pelosi was referring to the point system in the Senate bill, which would grant those seeking citizenship points based on English proficiency, work history and family status, the publication The Hill reports. The bill would impose tighter rules for green card eligibility for some relatives of U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
"Were about families and family values, Pelosi said. "And having people coming and going, taking their children out of school and being separated from them we should try to fashion something that recognizes the reality of life.
Significant changes to the bill by the Pelosi-led House could doom the "fragile bipartisan coalition supporting the bill in the Senate, according to The Hill.
Pelosi also denied conservative claims that the bill amounts to amnesty for illegal aliens, saying: "Theres nothing in this bill that is about amnesty.
Okey Dokey ole Peloooosi! Build the wall, Daddy won't come over here, and Mommy, Daddy and children will stay together!
Now look at how easy that is!
blah blah blah 900 pages later blah blah blah.
House version
Let em in.
That’s what the left’s saying, their amnesty bill “breaks up families”. In other words, it’s not comprehensive enough.
Give them an inch, they’ll take a mile, and cry until they get it. I’m all for “reuniting” these families, but I call it “deportation”.
Is here name Maria Pelosi or what?

Well, at least both parties are trying to do something. There’s so much partisanship in Washington. But sometimes I think that rather than more laws on immigration, what’s really needed is just enforcement of the laws already on the books. These older laws are not being enforced. Perhaps if they had been enforced, we wouldn’t have had the mess we have today.
Dear Nancy,
There’s an obvious way to enforce our laws AND promote “family unification”...... it’s called DEPORTATION. I don’t think anyone is prohibiting these families from re-uniting in their home country.....
Dems want to let in the huddled masses, yearning for big government.
Say NO to Amnesty!!

Families will spring forth on both sides of the border.. many have families in their home land, and have started another family with another woman here.
Bump THAT!
I don't CARE about illegal families. I care about AMERICAN FAMILIES who are going to be horribly impacted by this kind of THOUGHTLESS legislation!!!
It's not your JOB Ms. Pelosi to be worrying about illegal immigrant's families! Your JOB is to worry about AMERICAN FAMILIES!!!!
That's why the American people PAY your salary!! THE ILLEGALS DON'T! THE MEXICAN GOVT DON'T! AMERICANS DO!!!
Stupid farkin people! Low-grade morons. Boneheaded imbeciles!
Bump
Agreed :)
The point system is to ensure that you don’t end up getting immigrants that are a burden on the social system.
Like preferring people that know how to read and write!
Of course she’s against it.
This “breaking up families” line is a crock. Families only get broken up if they want to be. Just because daddy has to go does not mean mommy and the anchor baby can’t go with him. ICE will be happy to give them the “family travel” package.
Very common actually.
Funny, we never hear about that aspect.
But I beg to differ, Dilbert. This “something” is FAR worse than “nothing”.
You’re correct, there’s laws on the books that are ignored that could do the trick...but only if you keep Kennedy, Spector, McCain, Leahy, et al away, far, far, away...
As noted upstream, these people disrupted their families far worse when papa just disappeared one day, for years at a stretch, to go El Norte.
I don't pity them even a little bit. SEND EM BACK!
