Monday, 1:00 p.m.: Convene and resume consideration of the motion to proceed to S. 1348, the Comprehensive Immigration Legislation.
Why isn’t Sessions stressing the fact that the family that comes over with the worker has 3 years to drop anchor babies!!!!!
No doubt.
But WE'RE hearing it....OTHERS are hearing it...
..and it's going on RECORD!
It is just amazing Mom !
I may be mistaken (not for the first time!) ...and I went back to Hewitt’s site to find the piece he wrote on the 19th discussing what was good about the bill..I can’t find it, but I remember scanning it.
Not true. He spoke against it and publicly questioned when the candidates were going to say something. THEN Romney spoke out against it.
I don’t have a dog in the presidential race yet, and Hugh annoys me to no end at times, but I listened to Hugh’s shows on Thursday and Friday, and he has been consistently against this monstrosity.
Arkansas Ping!
I'm just about ready to say to the President that I need his resignation. Put Dick Cheney in the driver's seat for the duration.
President Bush: You swore an oath to defend the U.S. against all ememies foreign AND domestic. You have failed. I want an 'Unapologetic Conservative' in the White House. You're not it.
He just did. He has reserved three hours to talk, in order to hit all the points. He can’t say it all at once.
To be fair, Hugh did say (when the bullet points were released but before the draft became public) that there were some decent parts to the bill as announced, and he also pointed out some concerns he had, but that he had to see the details before passing final judgement. As more details leaked out on Thursday and Friday, his negative view grew and grew.
Nevertheless, he never came out in favor of passing the bill.
I’ve listened to Hugh for years. He knew Romney’s (latest) positions - he just did a book on him this past year. That is when Hugh started sounding tough on the border fence.
Hugh, like Romney, does not want to deport the illegals already here, so frankly, they both suck on this issue.
Here’s a link to the draft that is available to senators now:

I’m so appalled. I have to hit the phones yet again!
Thanks for some clarity:) I admit to suffering from Mind Bogglement today.
He's also on the board for Chamber of Commerce. Runs the Islamic Institute, has a 'green' enviro group with Gale Norton, and a 'worker's rights' group that marches with ANSWER..Get this guy out of DC and many of our problems will end. AND he is the Bush Administrations #1 point man on immigration.
I wouldn’t mind if he filibustered just to burn time. He could take up several hours by reading off the names of people killed by illegal immigrants since 9/11.
I think at one point he and some others said they would filibuster. Thing is, the Senate can stop a filibuster with 60 votes. I don’t know if Reid has 60 votes, but it wouldn’t surprise me. There are so many traitors running around with their fingers stuck on on particular part of this disgraceful bill.
Yes...banging my head on the desk.
This is sounding more and more like Animal Farm every day.
“The point system is skewed in favor of low-skilled workers - underiming the merit system..”
“Some animals are more equal than others” :<)
